If you have over $100 to spend on a CPU, in this case you well have over $200, it would be foolish to spend all that money on a terrible AMD CPU, particularly their FX line. Intel simply dominates them in every aspect possible - I'm not even a fanboy, it's just the truth. It can't even compete against their old BE chips or a i3-2100 that's half the price and was released months and months before FX. A 2500k compared to a 8150 does not only achieve better marks, but it's cheaper, and has a upgrade path with easy overclocking options. You could grab a MSI Z77 G43 board to match up with the CPU considering it's the only good board you could buy with dozens of features in that tight of a price range. Just because it's virtually an 8 core doesn't mean anything.

The h80 is considerably overpriced just like a lot of other Corsair products. You could look up benchmarks on Google and see it's no better than a Hyper 212 that's half he price. When you start looking in those high price ranges, it should be strictly NH-D14, Silver Arrow, old FRIO.

A 6970 is a good card but you can find Nvidia's [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] for less.

Being cheap when it comes down to the PSU is the worst idea and can be the worth nightmare. A lot of people think it's something that's not nearly as important as lets say it a high end AHS, but it is. OCZ and a lot of other no-name companies are notorious for terrible products that suddenly decide to fail without warning ( Petrol & Modstream ). When it comes down to PSU's, the name really means anything - it may look all fancy on the outside and have an enticing price tag, but you're going down the wrong path. With the $100's you save from making light, and better adjustments...you'll have more than enough for a quality PSU and then some.

The guy above made a good point.I'm just gonna add you need to upgrade that list to have a intel the amd is just a cheap version.that was the main idea of the amd line to have a cheaper processor so we can compete with the over priced intel.anyway good luck in your build.

That maybe would of have been somewhat true years ago, but now AMD is overpriced and can't compete with anything.

Yea I'm still mad at myself for going with an AMD GPU when I first started my build a while back. Now I'm stuck with two 6870's . Should have gone Nvidea Intel instead of AMD Intel. I know you were talking CPU's but its the same with their GPU's too.
