Alright,

Unfortunately, I don't have an xbox console with this modification, so I am unable to observe the physics of the fan.

I need to know how the fan mod above the heatsink works (I think I know...) and which direction the air goes. I'd also like to hear your thoughts on whether there's improvements, making it less prone to RROD, no effect at all or worse (however unlikely, but I need to know the above first).

Thanks guys,
faithfully,
Jiaman.

I'm not potsitive but I think It blows the air down onto it but the ones that people put on the cases suck the hot air out

you can do either. The stock fans suck air out, so some people blow more air in to have more airflow, while others just suck more hot air out. Personally I think a fan going in works better. I think the core cooler fans blow in also if you were wondering.

If they blow in, wouldn't that prevent the air from escaping? Physics: the thermal energy will rise as it's lighter than air, thermal energy doesn't just disappear, you cannot create or destroy energy - therefore the air will still be there. Despite that the majority of air is floating and most likely going to escape from the side vents, couldn't it still damage other parts of the xbox? You can't take it so literally (incase you do), no disrespect here, but heat does not instantly rise - e.g 1 second it's here, next it's somewhere in space - it takes time. Therefore it could break the xbox as the fan blowing into the xbox would be quite powerful...

Wouldn't the ones sucking air be better?

I need voices guys!

Thanks,
Jiaman.

Yeah - I think that if they suck air out it'll be better. The heatsink is there to collect the heat. It can sustain the heat, so the ones that suck would do a much better job than the ones that blow (don't forget to read my previous post).

Thanks for the reply.
