first this may take some time if you are new at stuff like this but that's what this guide is for
RULES...First:don't host and play on the same computer unless you have a strong reliable computer
Second: make sure you are not using a netbook, for you should already know that it isn't for gaming
Third: if your looking to have a lot of members on your server don't use a wireless network (just hook you computer up to your device and there you go )

First:a gaming compatible computer(duh...lol)
Second:Lots of RAM(dont know what RAM is? Here's a guide [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Third:a minecraft account

here are some common commands:tell <playername> <message> whispers a message to a player but be careful admins can see everything
me <actiontext> an action command that shows others what you type (e.g.xi0n got humped by a creeper)
kill <player name>...does what it says it does lol
Here is a list of admin commands:gamemode <playername> 0/1/2...0 is Survival mode 1 is Creative mode 2 is Hardcore mode only affects the persons name that you type in.
ban <playername> this bans whoevers name is typed in from that server
give <playername> <data-value> [amount] [damage-value] this gives whoever whatever you want them to have
kick <playername> this temporarily bans someone from the server notethey can join back
op <playername> gives player the rank of operator

Survival:allows players to actually destroy each others creations
Creative:lets players build whatever they want
Roleplay: lets players roleplay:shopkeepers merchants etc.
