Shameless is a BAFTA award winning British drama television series set in the fictional Chatsworth Council Estate, Stretford, Greater Manchester in England. Produced by Company Pictures for Channel 4, the first seven episode series started airing on 13th January 2004. The comedy drama, centered on British underclass and working class culture has been accorded critical acclaim by various sections of the British media, including The Sun newspaper and Newsnight Review on BBC Two.
The programme was created and partially written by Paul Abbott.

Character Description

Frank Gallagher-

Vernon Francis "Frank" Gallagher (born 26 January 1960) is the patriarch of the Gallagher Family. He is a perpetually unemployed, absentee single parent and also a severe alcoholic who blows all his time and money getting drunk at The Jockey. He has appeared more regularly than any other cast member and has been voted Best Shameless Character On Earth.


Carl Gallagher -

Carl Gallagher (born 1990) is the fourth oldest Gallagher sibling. The son of Frank and Monica, his brothers are Phillip or Lip and Liam; his sisters are Fiona, Debbie, and Stella; his half-brothers are Ian (who was raised without knowing that they were half brothers) and Nigel; and his half-sister is Delia. Initially he played only a minor role in the show, likely due to his age, but since Series 2 has been featured just as much as the other Gallagher children.


Mimi Tutton -

Katherine Mimi Harmonica Joy Tutton, known just as Mimi, is the foul-mouthed, loud, brash and violent matriarch of the Maguire Family. She is the ex wife of Paddy Maguire, with whom she had seven children and the current wife of Billy Tutton with whom she has one child. She was once a drug dealer on the Chatsworth Estate and was frequently seen selling drugs but her son Jamie has taken over the family business in crime. Mimi spends her days working behind the bar at The Jockey, looking after her young daughter Cilla and dealing with the problems caused by her sons, their wives and her new fiance Billy Tutton. She is also extremely violent and easily angered, though she considers herself to be a devout Catholic. She has "headbutted" several characters on the show including Lip Gallagher, Sue Garland, Cassie Western and even her own son Shane. Mimi is as hard as nails, and she can hold her own with men and women. Mimi is known for her distinctive 'Scouse' accent.


Jamie Maguire -

James Patrick "Jamie" Maguire (born 1978) is the oldest son of Paddy and Mimi Maguire. He currently runs the Maguire family interests in drug dealing and other crime aswell as the pub, The Jockey, where he is co licensee with his wife Karen. He first appeared in Series 4 after serving a ten-year prison sentence for murder. He started as a reformed character seeking a seperate path from his families business in crime. However after his parent's marriage began to fall apart due to his father's heroin addiction and the death of his sister Mandy, Jamie was forced to take the reins of the family business, a job he excelled at. Now more ruthless than his father before him, Jamie runs the Maguire's interests alone, though his mother still holds alot of sway. Jamie also spent a brief period as a male escort working for Michelle Critchall when he and his wife were struggling to pay their bills and Jamie was fighting going back to crime. Jamie has shown an occasional tendancy to sleep walk, as seen more often early on in his relationship with his now wife, Karen. In Series 8 we learn that Jamie has a fear of clowns after one died at his birthday party when he was a child.


Karen Maguire -

Karen Maguire (nee Jackson) is the daughter of Sheila Jackson and her second husband, Eddie. She is married to Jamie Maguire, with who she has a son, Connor. Nigel and Delia Gallagher are her half-brother and sister.


Mickey Maguire -

Michael "Micky" Maguire started out as a paranoid, aggressive, violent man who followed in his brother's footsteps but his acceptance of his secret homosexuality made him into the kindest member of the Maguire family. He had a brief and casual relationship with Ian Gallagher just after his first appearance on the show, which being his first gay experience left him with strong feelings for him. Their relationship may have blossomed into something more meaningful but Ian was disgusted when he heard how Micky had his dog Nelson give him oral sex when he had broken arms.


Shane Maguire -

Shane Maguire is a member of the Maguire family, Chatsworth Estate's gangster family, known for his short and unpredictable temper and originally limited intelligence. He fell in love with prostitute Kelly Ball, who despite the early interference of his father, Paddy, he later married.


Kelly Maguire -

Kelly-Marie Maguire (ne Ball) is the sister of Kevin Ball and the seperated wife of Shane Maguire. A former heroin addict, she became a prostitute and eventually found her way to Lillian Tyler's brothel, where she struck up a relationship with Shane. The relationship soon ended under intimidation from Paddy Maguire. She returned later, telling Shane she "decided not to take his father's offer". This resulted in Shane confronting Paddy, who beat him up in The Jockey.


Marty Fisher -

Martin "Marty" Fisher is the son of Carol Fisher, and brother of Veronica. Marty has Tourette's Syndrome coupled with Hyper Mania and is also a pyromaniac. He was a guest character in the first series, became a main character (along with his mother) in Series 2, and left along with Veronica and Kev in the first episode of Series 4. At the time of his departure from the series he was dating Sue Garland. He returned in the later half of Series 8, claiming to have divorced Sue after she cheated on him but it was soon revealed he had been keeping a few secrets. After his return Marty got increasingly close to Kelly Maguire, his brother-in-law's sister.

Billy Tutton -

William "Billy" Tutton is the teenage father of Cilla Maguire. In Series 7 Billy began an affair with a newly divorced Mimi Maguire but soon admitted that he was only 14 years old. Mimi was horrified and ignoring Billy's expressions of love, forced him to move off the estate. He later returned and persued Mimi until the unlikely couple became lovers and then married.


Lillian Tyler -

Local busy-body and brothel Madame, Lillian Tyler is a very confident and strange older woman. She had an affair with her best friend Carol Fisher's husband in the 1970's and when Carol found out 30 years later through some love letters she reported Lillian for benefit fraud. Lillian's husband Brendan was accidentally shot dead by Carl Gallagher. As of Series 5, Lillian has appeared much more in the show, becoming one of Chatsworth's most recognisable faces.


Aidan Croker -

Aidan Croker is the child of Sinnead and nephew of Patty Croker. His father was a Gypsy that left his mother to marry someone else while Aidan was still a baby, his mother has a break down as a result and became a drug addict and later a prostitute to fund her habbit. He moved onto the Chatsworth Estate to live with his aunt while his mother was in prison for assaulting a customer.


Avril Powell -

Avril Powell arrived on the Chatsworth Estate with her husband Jackson and daughter Letitia in the gap between Series 7 and Series 8, they live next door to the Gallagher Family in Fiona/Yvonne's old house. Avril made fast friends with Mimi Maguire, Lillian Tyler, Libby Croker and her mother Patty with whom she can often be seen drinking with in The Jockey. Avril mentioned to Mimi Maguire that she worked as a health care receptionist for 10 years.


Jackson Powell -

Jackson Powell is an unemployed teacher who moved onto the Chatsworth Estate in Series 8 with his wife Avril and daughter Letitia, the family live next door to the Gallagher's in Yvonne Karib's old house.


Letitia Powell -

Letitia Powell arrived on the Chatsworth Estate with her parents during the gap between Series 7 and 8, they live in Yvonne's old house. Feisty yet impressionable, Letitia has become firm friends with Aidan Croker who recently moved onto the estate to live with his aunt Patty.


Chesney Karib -

Chesney Karib is the son of Yvonne and Kash Karib. He was briefly the Young Mayor of Chatsworth, and love interest of Debbie Gallagher, until she decided he was self-interested and using her. However, Chesney was using the campaign funds to help an elderly Pakistani woman to take her British Citizenship Test.


Patty Croker -

Patty Croker is the wheel chair bound mother of Libby Croker who moved into the Gallagher house with her daughter in Series 7. She is mortal enemies with Frank Gallagher, who she sees as both a waste of space and opponent for her daughter's attention.

Gloria Meak -

Gloria Meak is a local hair dresser on the Chatsworth Estate, although she only appeared in the show during Series 9 she is meant to be a resident just unseen until then. She is a close friend of both Mimi Tutton and Avril Powell.


Ruby Hepburn -

Ruby Hepburn is the flirtatious and crime prone niece of Mimi Tutton. She arrived on the Estate in Series 9 for reasons she hasn't yet made known. Showing herself to be just as fiery and capable as her aunt Mimi and cousins, she quickly knocked out Aidan Croker and friends when they asked to see her breasts before breaking into the Maguire house. Ruby also quickly established that she is fully aware of her power over men and flirted with her "uncle" Billy and cousin Jamie before going for a run through the estate in a small top and shorts.


Hate all you want but i was bored and this took me quite a while. i'm just passing the time while im off school!

Im not a Big Fan of shameless USA so i dont want to make a post about that incase false information

I hope this encourages you to watch shameless its a brilliant drama series.
