This is just to stop spam.
1. First you put up a player of reasonable value (35k+) for 150 start price.
2. You then go on to a second account and start bidding when there is about 1 minute left.
3. With a bit of luck you will get into a bidding war where the other person bids straight away.
4. When you know that the other bidder is doing this, you bid ridiculously high hoping that they will bid straight away and end up buying the player for much more than they're worth.
(Note - It is done with players in the 4-1-2-1-2 formation because they are highly in demand.)
