If you like to read a lot then yes, but I find reading something long on a screen tiring, and it hurts my eyes. Much rather buy some books.

The kindle is designed not to hurt your eyes, It is very book like. You will get use to not holding a book and there are so many bonus's with a Kindle and you can lay in so many different positions and still turn the page (with one hand) !

You could use iBooks or NewsStand but they have backlights which tend to hurt your eyes after a long duratin of reading, you can download a Kindle app from the app store but it still suffers with the same problems.
