i had the same problem
the way i fixed it was to buy a new drive thats identical to the old one, then take the board out the old one and put it in the new one. the 360 will then be able to read games

this is the easy way and will work as long as its not a board fault and is a 100% match to the old one.

you will need to do that or extract the dvd key from the old drive and flash it to the new one.
you cant just put a new drive in.

KILLA_NiiGHTMARE wrote The reason your new tray won't work is you have probably not put the right DVD code in you need to get this off your old one in order for it to work!

wanna tell me how to do this pal?

You Need To Find Out The Old Code So Hook Up The Old Drive To Your Computer! And Copy The Drive Inf Then Plug In The New One And Paste It There!
Or If That Doesn't Wokr Then YOu Will Have To Attach YOu Console To Your Computer And Change Them To Fit The New Drive!

To get your old Circuit Board out of the old disk drive, look on YouTube for it and you should be able to do that otherwise your new Disk Drive wont work properly because it doesnt have the Drive Key which is on your old Circuit Board (on old DVD drive). Make sure its the same brand!
