I know this is a gaming website but here I go.
Right so I see a lot of posts on TTG about, "what bike should I get" and so on, all from people that want to get into the sport but don't know what bike is right for them. I created this post to give advice to all those people. Also tutorials of the basic tricks you should try to learn if you are starting BMXing.

First off choosing the right bike.
The bike you should choose depends on what you want to do on it. Weather you just want a nice BMX to commute on or if you want a good bike to pull amazing tricks at the skatepark.

Commuting
Right the first section is Commuting, say you want a bmx just for riding to work/school etc. For this type of bike you don't need it to be the strongest but obviously you want a good looking bike. I will not tell you what to buy, but will tell you what to look out for when buying a new bike and give an example. For a bike to commute on the only main thing to look out for is that it has a 25-9 gearing ratio. This means that the sprocket/chainwheel will be a 25 tooth and the cassette will be a 9 tooth. If your bike has this then all the bmxer's with better bikes will not think your a f*g. A good bike that falls under this category is [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Beginner
The next category is beginner. The right bike for you if your a beginner at bmx but want to learn tricks all depends on how far you want to take bmxing and how much money you have to spend. If your just looking to pull simple tricks and not progress any further then things to look out for on a bike would be intergrated headset, sealed bottom bracket (bb), 25-9 gearing and chromoly parts (downtube, toptube, frame, etc). [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] This bike would be perfect for a beginner but would not be able to stand expert tricks.

If your looking to start off bmxing and carry on progressing with the sport you would want to look out for things like intergrated headset, sealed bottom bracket (bb), 25-9 gearing, full crhomoly frame, bars and forks, sealed front and back hubs and double walled rims. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] This Fit would do the job nicely and if the rider starts getting better the bike is easily upgradable.

If you were starting bmx and had plenty of money to spend you could buy a pro level bike that would not need upgrading when your abilities are better. You would look out for all of the things mentioned above but all the parts would be a top brand like WeThePeople, Sunday, Odyssey etc. All the parts on paper may seem the same as a 500 pound bike but will acctually be stronger. Amateur/Pro
If your an amateur at bmx and don't have much money the best idea would be to buy something like the second bike in the beginner section and then upgrade it whenever you have money to buy new (better) part/parts.

If you have more money to spend then the third bike in the beginner section would be more suited as it would be a perfect bike that would be strong.

If you are "pro" or very good at bmx it is best to build a custom bmx from scratch. So buy all the parts then put it together or get a bike mechanic to build it for you. This way you will get the best quality parts for everything on the bike compared to a stock bike where they might cut a few corners. The only downside with this is that it can cost anything form 900 pounds to 1600 pounds.

Right now onto the tricks

1st : Bunny hop/pro hop/ j-hop
This is an essential trick for bmxing, nearly all tricks use this trick
Video tutorial

2nd : 180
180's are simple and a very useful trick, once you can to a 180 things like 360's will be easier

These are the two main tricks that will help you get better at the other tricks, once you have these dialled you can then watch plenty more how to's on youtube and you will be doing 360 tailwhip's before you know it.

If theres anything else you think I need to add or correct please tell me. This took a lot of time so a thank would be highly appreciated

Thanks Inhale
