So heres the situation. I own a computer whos company dosent have drivers for its model that support windows 7, so i was suffering performance problems, audio problems, ect.. So i decided to put windows xp back onto it. Well, i did everything i was supposed to i believe. I did the Op system disc, drivers disc, and the 2 application disc's. However, now i cannot get internet on this computer now, the cords are all plugged in and everything. It dosent want to register the Ethernet cord im putting into it. Any suggestions?

you sir need a new computer, xp is outsourced anyways and if the company doesn't make drivers for Win7, its outdated and needs to be outsourced My advice, build your own! It's much more fun that way, and a little cheaper too!

Yeah your going to need to try to reinstall xp again. Also xp is out dated by awhile and most things run on windows 7. If you basically just use the enternet and don't really much modding or just a little bit I would buy a cheap laptop. That is what I use and it has worked great and I have had it for almost a year now.

Sounds like a network card issue. If it worked on 7, then I would say its the drivers. You will need to find the make and model and download the latest drivers for it. Once you are sure you've got the latest ones we can do more.

Lastly, the lan cable does it have the clip that clicks when you plug it in?

I'm not sure about on XP, but you get error warnings on WIN7 to say you have drivers missing. Type the product code of you computer online, and type "drivers". Look for one to do with your network card.
