Call Virgin Media first as they will know how to setup your specific router for gaming as other people have prob called about it before and if you mean the SuperHub , my clan friends have had problems with it too

You will need to open up some ports.....Virgin or any stock router by an ISP are never good for gaming, no matter what they say.

try port forwarding it worked for me just google it how to port forward on the router u are using
thses are th ports u need to open: Port 88 (UDP)
Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
Port 80 (TCP)
