I have recently got my new computer and installed After Effects. I would love to try editing with it however it does not seem to support the M2TS files that my Hauppauge HD PVR records into. I am sure there is an easy fix but I am no experience with the software.

do the basic stuff in sony vegas, like croping/colour correction etc, then render it as a 'wmv' and at a tamplate of 4.8 (i think but i know its 4sumthing) and then open it in after FX,

I dont know if this works, but im guessing it will
