i was wondering if i could mod red dead online as far as 5th prestige 50 gold guns all mounts characters and so on without getting banned...

I've had mine modded since the day it came out and I've been banned for modding cod5

Rockstar North released a statement quite some time ago saying that they would be taking a look at any and all suspicious activity regarding characters and rank, and that everyone would be given a chance to delete their multiplayer save game before the "Banhammer" was dropped on them. Since that time there has been very few bans even directly after statement and what Rockstar called "The Day of Judgement". So long story short, No It's not really okay to do it, but you probably won't get caught either.
