If your Xbox One console wont power on, your power supply may be faulty or improperly connected. Try these solutions to troubleshoot the problem..
Check first to see if your console has power

If your Xbox One power button isnt lit up, check to ensure you have proper power to the console.

Notes

  • If the Xbox button on the console is on but theres nothing visible on the screen, try the troubleshooting solutions in Troubleshooting a blank TV or monitor with your Xbox One.
  • Make sure both your console and power supply are placed in a well-ventilated area. See How to position your Xbox One console for information about the best way to set up your console.

Troubleshooting your power supply

1. Turn off the console, if you are able to.

2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console.
3. Unplug the power supply from the electrical outlet, and then unplug the short cord from the power supply.
4. Plug the power cord back into the console, and then plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet and the power supply.

5. Make sure that all three power supply connections are firm.
6. Turn on the console, and check the light on the power supply.

Check the light on your power supply unit

The light on your power supply unit can give you a clue as to whether its working properly:

Solid white or solid orange light:
Your power supply is working. If your console wont turn on, see Troubleshooting a blank TV or monitor with your Xbox One.

Power supply displays no light: Your power supply may need to be replaced. Try the following solutions first:

1. Plug your consoles power supply into a different electrical outlet. Do not use a surge protector.
2. If the unit is still not lit up, unplug the power supply and let it cool for 30 minutes. Then plug it back into the outlet.

Note If you are able to borrow a power supply from another Xbox One unit (friend, relative, etc.), try it on your own unit to see if it makes a difference. If so, then you can be sure theres a problem with your own power supply.

If your power supply light is still unlit, the unit needs to be replaced. You can order a replacement Xbox One power supply unit from our Xbox Online Service Center. Console registration is required to replace the unit under warranty (the power supply warranty is the same as your console warranty).
