The Xbox One console may unexpectedly turn off under the following circumstances:

• The Turn off after setting is enabled, and the console has been inactive for the allotted time.
  
• The console is too hot.
  
• There is a problem with the power supply.

Troubleshooting

Solution 1: Change the console settings so it does not turn off automatically

1. Start the Xbox One console.
2. Press the Xbox button on the controller to go Home, then select Settings or say Xbox, go to Settings.
3. Select Power & startup.

Solution 2: Let the console cool down

If you received a message indicating that your Xbox One console is getting improper ventilation, follow these steps:

1. Turn off the console.
2. Wait at least one hour.
3. Move console to a well-ventilated spot.
4. Turn on the console.

Important Make sure your console is in a cool, well-ventilated place. Remove any objects on, under, or right next to the console.

If you follow these steps but the console continues to get hot and shut down, request a repair.

Solution 3: Check the power supply light

Solid white or solid orange light: Your power supply is working. If your console wont turn on, try plugging your consoles power supply directly into different electrical outlet (not through a surge protector).

No light: If the power supply light is not illuminating, unplug the console and let cool for 20 minutes. Then, plug the power supply back into the outlet.

Replace the power supply

If your power supply light is still unlit in an outlet that you have confirm is working, your power supply needs to be replaced. You can order a replacement Xbox One power supply from the Xbox Online Service Center. Console registration is required to replace the power supply under warranty (the power supply warranty is the same as your console warranty).
