Phil Spencer says not to Define Games by Resolution and Framerate

4.5
Xbox boss Phil Spencer has once again taken to Twitter to hint new information about his next set of plans and announcements. First of all, he believes that having 60 frames per second in the game does not make a better game. When bugged by fans about the lack of Xbox One games that support 60 frames per second on the console, he stated that there are a lot of games on the console that support that standard but one should not define a game’s quality by resolution or frame rate.

Moving ahead, he also commented on the recent announcement that Sony won’t be attending Gamescom. He stated. “I saw that news. Makes sense, E3 and GC are very close this year, more challenging on news. Paris show is a good show.” Spencer’s comment here makes a ton of sense since E3 is taking place later and Gamescom is happening a bit earlier than their usual dates.

He also revealed that he will be at Gamescom this year, indicating that Microsoft itself will be attending the show in Cologne. Furthermore, it seems that Microsoft have relaxed their ID@Xbox Policy for Lab Zero Games. The company tweeted to Spencer and asked him whether they can have a chat to end a certain policy. Spencer stated that: “I’m glad this worked out. Happy to get your input on how we run ID@Xbox. DM me.” We are not sure what that policy is but one can assume that it’s ID@Xbox controversial parity clause. We have followed up with Lab Zero Games to get more information on this.

Honestly. If I saw a game come out and it being 2015 with new consoles out and the game has awful graphics, I personally would not get it. Why is it so hated on if people want good graphics in a game. As I said we are this far in gaming. They need to supply this as a necessity.

If they concentrated more on the storylines and the game itself instead of frame rate it would really not matter.

Ska I remember oldschool games where a resolution of 640x480 and sometimes 30fps...
Obviously gameplay and a good storyline are what make a game good or not.

I completely stopped playing games when I found out Game Developers were scared to make anything other than 60fps First Person Shooters just because if they didn't their sales would go down.

I would love to see more original games even if the graphics were horrible again.

thats the thing storyline usually sucks now so we want good looking visuals at the very least to have fun on multiplayer.

Yeah phil, good job try to minimize the damage, but we know the console can't handle 1080p.

The only people who do this are the "PC Master Race" sad little people

Old school games were cool because developers actually took the time to make he game, now-a-days their like we will give gamers a unfinished product, and give them abot a 1-2 gb's patch to fix our unfinished game.

" I would love to see more original games even if the graphics were horrible again. " I REALLY hope you don't mean any modern games. Maybe remakes but nothing that will be sold as "the next best game"

It's true that FPS and resolution don't make a game good, however when a game can run 60 fps and at 1080p on another console we're no longer talking about the game.

If we can't define it based on FPS, and Res, how will we? The quality is determined by the Res, and FPS is how smooth it is.

Are we seriously going back to the 1990s for the sake of trying to maintain the "which console has more fanboys/girls" war?

Seriously, this is pretty stupid. A game needs to look good, and feel good otherwise I could go play on my phone and not even spend any money on a console/PC.

For all the "that's not true" hate I'm going to get, save your breath.
