Watch Dogs delayed to Spring 2014

4.6
Ubisoft announced today that Watch Dogs has been delayed until Spring 2014. Communications manager Gary Steinman writes on the Watch Dogs blog, "As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience."

The game was originally slated to be released this November on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was expected to be one of the highlights of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launches.

Speaking during Ubisoft's financial results call, president Yves Guillemot said, "Today we can say we already have a great game in hand. Still, in a world of mega-blockbusters, we have now come to the conclusion that the team needed additional time to realize the game's full potential." This additional time, he said, will allow Ubisoft to ensure that Watch Dogs is a "long term pillar" of the company's portfolio, much like Assassin's Creed and Far Cry.

ODST
Gossip No they realized that nobody was going to buy this game because of COD:Ghosts and BF4.

Wow, way to be one way minded that only FPS games are good. Everybody likes RPG games and other genres too.
OT, I'm not sad or disappointed in this change by Ubisoft. I had a bad feeling Watch_Dogs would be kinda kept back in the shadows compared to bigger AAA titles this fall. Good move Ubisoft, hopefully it's for the best.

I agree this could potentially be the next AAA game and I hope they have made the right choice. I am looking forward to playing Watch_Dogs though.

justahacker While I'm disappointed that they're delaying a few months, look at the last game that got delayed a few months. GTA V. That game turned out to be arguably one of the best games of this console generations.

Cheers to hoping that this delay is able to make Watch Dogs the Oblivion of the new generation!

True i also hope that they do an amazing job on this game :)

SliceFX I believe all the companies are trying to follow in the footsteps of GTA...

I agree somewhat with what you said but only Maybe a few companies in my opinion are trying to follow in the footsteps of GTA, but not all of them. Look at other companies like 343, IW and DICE. They are not trying to make a game like GTA are they? They are trying to make unique games, and games someone would enjoy playing for long periods of time. But maybe in time all games will follow in the footsteps of GTA but not this year...
