Watch Dogs delayed to Spring 2014

Ubisoft announced today that Watch Dogs has been delayed until Spring 2014. Communications manager Gary Steinman writes on the Watch Dogs blog, "As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience."

The game was originally slated to be released this November on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was expected to be one of the highlights of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launches.

Speaking during Ubisoft's financial results call, president Yves Guillemot said, "Today we can say we already have a great game in hand. Still, in a world of mega-blockbusters, we have now come to the conclusion that the team needed additional time to realize the game's full potential." This additional time, he said, will allow Ubisoft to ensure that Watch Dogs is a "long term pillar" of the company's portfolio, much like Assassin's Creed and Far Cry.

This is somewhat displeasing as I was looking forward to playing it as soon as possible. The upside to the delay is that the game will surely be better than if it were to be released at the originally planned time. Hopefully there won't be any more issues during this time to further delay the game's release.

Ortho This is making me angry. I wanted to play this so bad, they better make great improvements now.


I hope that they do make great improvements to it. They did end up delaying GTA V I believe but it still ended up having a lot of bugs.

Gossip No they realized that nobody was going to buy this game because of COD:Ghosts and BF4.
Somewhat true but there's about another 200 games coming out around/before christmas...


This isn't true at all.
It's obvious they are delaying it because of problems with development.

Big companies are smart enough to know that if someone is going to buy their game, they would buy it no matter what games are out at the time.

As long as the game is worth the purchase, I will be okay with waiting. I just hope this delay will give them more time to make the game even better!
