Updated: Xbox Live Down, Microsoft Investigating (Its Up!)

If you're having trouble signing onto Xbox Live, you are not alone. Microsoft is aware of the issue and is "actively investigating," according to the official Xbox Support Twitter account. The Xbox Live status page at the time of writing does not report any issues.

Some of the reported issues from our forum include freezing when sending invites and being unable to sign back on.

UPDATE 1: Xbox Live status has updated with the below info.

Wait you can still re-connect to Xbox Live and nothing would happen right ? I'm pretty sure that's what I did.

Did you really have to add that last part? I enjoyed your post until then...

But yes, the hacking was extremely bad for Sony, who you would think would have better security. After all, they have the cash to pay for security that could be as good as Microsoft's. Yeh ok, an unknown amount of Xbox Live accounts have been hacked over time, but it would appear this was down to phishing scams rather than an all-out attack like that which happened to PSN.

On the plus side, there's no definitive evidence that any of the credit card details stolen in the attack were used for credit card fraud. I personally believe it was a sort of "show of force" and one hell of a way to show it could be done, even if it did take a month and a half for the attackers to succeed.

I didn't realise I was trying to start an argument, I saw that someone spouted a "fact" that was wrong and I set the record as straight as I could. Then I did it again. I actually read all 4 of the news sections on the home page and - prepare yourself - I actually wonder what's wrong with some PS3/4 posters too. Some of the were complaining about the light bar on the PS4 control being constantly on, even though it wouldn't take much more battery life than the LEDs that show which player you are on the current controller.

This is only the second article I've posted on. Both times I've posted to defend the Playstaion against people that clearly don't do their homework before posting rubbish. The first time was in the PS news section, as it happens.

Instead of accusing me of starting an argument, or rudely telling me to just go away, why not have an adult discussion about it? Form a real opinion, put your point across?

I don't like arguments, I do like debates and I love a good discussion though.
