Nintendo loses battle to take control of WiiU.com domain

4.5
Nintendo has lost the fight to gain control over the domain WiiU.com after a complaint was filed back in February.

WiiU.com in all its glory...
The decision was posted to the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) website on Saturday, confirming that Nintendo's complaint to gain control of WiiU.com was denied, as reported by Fusible.

The domain has been registered by a company in Burlington, Massachusetts since 2004.

Fusible notes that WiiU.com was put up for auction, yet once Nintendo filed the complaint with WIPO the listing was removed. It appears that Nintendo will have to pay a sizable amount in order to have control of the domain.

WiiU.com is currently a placeholder site containing link to both Wii U and non-WiiU content.

There has been no explanation provided as to why Nintendo lost the case.

TomorrowLand Not fair how Microsoft snatch up anyone domain they won't but smaller company's can't

Nintendo aren't small at all, they're much larger than Microsoft and Sony combined when it comes to overall system sales.

Nintendo is a very large scale company. Remember that they also have the 3DS which is selling very well at the moment

Kurumu Oh well Nintendo had it coming to them, with their crap about youtube videos. I personally wouldn't have given it to them. Companies need to realize in order for them to get something they want they need to shell out some money or bash some skulls,

:P

Bash some skulls? If a company goes around bashing skulls because they didn't get what they wanted, I'm almost positive that company would go under from negative things said about them and lawsuits. If no money was offered for the domain then that's Nintendo's fault. They should have at least offered something for the domain and maybe they would have gotten it.

Money? I'm not sure if Microsoft payed for the domain as I don't recall the whole thing that happened but I'm sure money was involved somewhere.
