Bungie's 'Destiny' to require a permanent online connection.

4.7
It was recently announced that Bungie's next shooter, Destiny, will require an internet connection in order to play, the studio confirmed at a press event.

The 'Shared World Shooter' will require a permanent online connection to power its persistent, emerging world, the studio stated.

"It's a persistent, shared and connected world, so you will need to be connected to the internet to play Destiny."

Destiny - which publisher Activision calls the world's first shared-world shooter - is built around co-op play and will include elements which are familiar to the massively multiplayer online genre (MMO), such as a persistent world, areas packed with players and quests designed to challenge sizeable groups.

Destiny was confirmed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but the studio would not confirm a release on next-gen platforms, or PC.

It will still sell a lot but will lose a lot because some people don't have good internet.

What if you have no internet connection? Then don't buy it.

I believe a lot of games are going to start doing this. I personally think it will loose a lot of sales, and people also might use interest in the game itself.

Feet This is going to lose sales...

It will, but I think it will make the game interesting. It could quite possibly make it play smoother and cleaner, or it could just hinder the sales.

I agree. I think this is a bad idea, especially a for a bungie game known for epic campaign modes... :(
