Bungie's 'Destiny' to require a permanent online connection.

4.7
It was recently announced that Bungie's next shooter, Destiny, will require an internet connection in order to play, the studio confirmed at a press event.

The 'Shared World Shooter' will require a permanent online connection to power its persistent, emerging world, the studio stated.

"It's a persistent, shared and connected world, so you will need to be connected to the internet to play Destiny."

Destiny - which publisher Activision calls the world's first shared-world shooter - is built around co-op play and will include elements which are familiar to the massively multiplayer online genre (MMO), such as a persistent world, areas packed with players and quests designed to challenge sizeable groups.

Destiny was confirmed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but the studio would not confirm a release on next-gen platforms, or PC.

This is going to lose sales...

That will lose sales because people will not be a gamer but enjoy it from time to time and then they buy this and they can't play it. Might fail.

Zwrq Hmm, this game seem interesting. It'll either prevail or totally flop. I hope it does well, it seems like a fun game.

I agree. It is either going to do quite well, or be a total disaster.
