Sorry if the title is a bit much, but that sums this up.

As the title says, that's what's happened. 2 kids aged 16 and 14 committed suicide, it was found they both play CoD so of course, the media is blaming ( again ) CoD for the acts.

What's everyone's opinion?

Mine has to be, I'm completely sick and tired of people targeting CoD as a last resort to explain things when something happens. MILLION play this game practically daily and nothing ever happens, but the 1 time something does, CoD has to be blame and it's just getting pathetic.

These stories get to me every time. I can understand using a violent game as a scapegoat to someones irrational decision of taking their own life. But they don't seem to include other ordeals that could have led up to this happening, at least not in the article. There are so many things that happen beyond records you can't look up on the internet. So for the officials, the only reasonable explanation is from a video game that you kill in.

What I don't understand, is that, like you said, millions play game such as CoD, GTA, Battlefield, everyday. I have to quote a comment made in the article, "What kind of video game did Hitler play?" This quote represents that the biggest genocide in history wasn't acted upon due to a video game, but rather someones mentality. I don't see any Genocides going on from players of those games, so why would someone kill their self solely off of playing a game? Almost everyone realizes that it's a game, and what you do in the game stays within it. Now, I don't condone buying games for your child, that is incapable of buying it themselves due to their age, we've all been there. But if you have any doubt that your child is incapable of handling the contents within the game, the best thing you should do is to obviously not buy it, and monitor what they play and watch.

But to blame all this on a video game, and not on their parents ignorance of what's going on in their child's life, is way to baffling. Since the leading reason in suicide is depression, it's obvious neglect from the parents to not be able to pick up on that. Parents are to monitor their child and seek attention if necessary to prevent such an action.

I would Blame COD only 0.01%, the rest is just the way those kids were thinking! It could have been something else! I've Never had thoughts of suicide while playing COD!

I find it to be complete bullshit. That is like blaming a black for stealing everything when he didn't. They are just too lazy to figure out that the two kids were probably bullied. Had shitty parents. Or were just mentally unstable.

The media will always blame something that can easily be done, it is just lazy journalism.

I have never had any Suicidal Thought's while playing CoD as someone else said.

The only thing CoD does to me is make me angry & I am pretty positive it happens to almost everyone else also.

Still can't believe they blamed a game series that is played everyday.

I think by their age they would know if they die they won't respawn lol.

There are so many games, such as GTA which would influence kids a lot worse.

They have nothing else to blame. Media for you
