and with the "I want to try the game before I buy it" argument with steam refunds now active you can just buy it and if you don't like it just refund it

Steam won't let you refund lots of games like that. They stated that it's supposed to be used as a "Turns out this game doesn't work correctly or doesn't play like it should so I want a refund" not as "I dont like it gimme money back plserino"

Same as Dan pretty much.

Though, I'd like to add- in the past, I have torrented a game to play for a while, until I was able to get the money to buy a legit copy of the game. Sometimes I don't want to wait to play a game, so I'll torrent it then buy later. I rarely torrent a game that I don't eventually buy, and if I do, it gets uninstalled within an hour because I've realised it's shit, or I don't like it.

I don't like when people torrent every game they own though, that kind of sucks.

Wubs wrote With the "can't you read?" argument with the system requirements is that some are vague
where minimum requirements allow for everything low at what frame-rate? and recommended allows for 4K? 1080p? People like to play at different settings, I for one am fine with toning down a few settings to get a playable frame rate, but there are some people who uninstall when they get 59 FPS rather than the 60 that they want.
Pirating the game before hand allows one to see what settings they can play on and what sort of frames they can get.

Steam's System only allows you to play for 2 hours of play time before you are ineligible for a refund, and there are some games that you have to play more than 2 hours to enjoy, and there may take some time getting settings right and initial set-up.

That is a fair point

pirating i think is fine if the intentions are good like trying out a game as i have done that for games such as Fallout 4

The only game I have torrented is South Park: The Stick of Truth, it was long after the game came out and it was only a couple of quid to buy so I didn't really see a problem with it, if I had the money online there and then I probably would have bought it, but I didn't so I just torrented it, don't really see a problem.

In all honesty I pirate a lot of the games I have played. It's normally games that I genuinely just want to mess around with and play for a few hours or single player only games that I'll play once and never touch again. I know people will have mixed opinions on this but that's what what I do normally. If its a bigger game such as GTA, Fallout etc, then I would purchase it.

Dan- wrote Some people don't have £39.99 or £45.99 to spend when a game comes out so why should that stop them from being able to play the game until they do get the funds for the game?

Those lazy wankers should get jobs.

I have a good, well-paid job and I don't buy every game that I want. If it's singleplayer only and I just want to play it once and never again, then I will torrent it.
