Makes no sense to pay the extra $50 for a 4790, when you can get a Xeon E3-1231 V3 instead. Skylake isn't much more expensive, so you may as well go with a Skylake rig at this point. SSD definitely belongs in a $1k rig. Even cheaper rigs should still have SSDs, and it's easier to add an aftermarket cooler later, but you can afford both, so it's fine.

or 970 option, before anyone gets butthurt;

If you want, you an spend the extra $20 for the Xeon, instead of the 6600k;

The Xeon is locked though, and can't be overclocked, the 6600k can be overclocked. The 6600k has 4 cores, and 4 threads. The Xeon has 4 cores, with 8 threads.

I'd suggest the same panel as above, great option for 1080p. Although, I'd be looking in to 1440p. You can get a nice 1440p panel for around $250, so if you can spend the money on it, it's definitely worth it IMO.

The Skylake Xeon isn't a bad call, actually forgot they existed tbh. But a Haswell i7 would still do the job and would do it with ease.

Undoubtedly. No reason not to go with Skylake at this point though, IMHO.

OP- 6600k would be fine, but if you're not interested in overclocking, or want better multi-threaded performance, get the Xeon.

I built my very first gaming computer and it runs all of these game easily. I even had a smaller budget than you. Just look into it. Youtube helped me a lot.
