Your parents get the money, and they don't always give the money back equally.

Why don't the teenagers just get a job? I find this dumb.

There isn't a job out there for every single teenager you know

Yea but there also isn't a need for the government to give teenagers money. Teach them they get things given to them in life, and goof of with the money they receive.

I can't seem to quite understand why it is that you're complaining that you're family are too well off for you to be deemed worthy of EMA? Students don't get EMA until they turn 16, when they are legally an adult. The reason they get it is in case they need it to survive for any number of reasons, the usual being that their parents' are not very well off. Sure, some kids buy cigarettes and shit with it, but it means they get an allowance to spend how they need/want, instead of taking money from the already struggling parents'. Most people get some sort of benefits, so in some way you, or your parents will be getting money from the Government.

Also, it's not even always £70. It depends entirely on the income of the student's parents'. The money is technically meant to be spent on stuff for school, such as clothes and stationary, which is why you only get it if you are attending. If you miss a day of school, you sacrifice a whole 2 weeks of EMA. If you're late for class (I think it's something like 3 times?), then you don't get your EMA for that fortnight.

It's not. However, if that's literally took from all I said, it's clear that you have no idea about the subject at hand.

0151 wrote Maybe their parents should get up of their arse and get a job instead of sponging. This sort of shit really pisses me off. Some people seem to think they don't need to work and what example is that setting to their children? I think we should introduce food stamps like U.S., but that's a different topic.

Edit: don't reply telling me there is no jobs as that is bullshit.

Maybe you should "get up of" your own arse "and get a job" instead of complaining about other people. You can't even use correct grammar and you're complaining about people getting money because their household income is below average. Smfh. Who said their parents' don't work anyway? Their parents could easily have a job. You're entitled to EMA if your household income is less than around £25k per year, which is fairly below average pay. EMA has absolutely nothing to do with people not working, so your argument is entirely invalid. If you think £70 a fortnight is tempting kids to not bother working, you're incredibly mistaken.

Lmao at your edit, since again, you obviously don't have a clue what you're talking about, but good try though. Come back when you have an actual education and maybe some valid points to make.

That's funny considering my mum was only on 19 grand a year at the time and I didn't receive EMA? The only ones who received it were the ones on the dole. Also what has my grammar got to do with this? I work hard for my money and I don't like people who think it's okay to sit there and do fuuck all and get everything handed to them. At 16-17 they should already have a job even if it's just a paper round there's no need to be lazy like their parents.

Only on 19 grand a year? that's more than enough.

Giving everyone money would not solve the problem it would only cause more issues. Not all young people who take drugs and drink are poor, giving them more money would only open those people to more of these things.

Our country is in enough cash problems as it is, let alone throwing it around willy nilly to every teenager wanting the next pair of trainers released by Nike.

I myself never received anything like this, nor did I even get pocket money from my parents.

Didn't have any of my own money until college where I could apply for student loans and my mother takes £170 of me a month from that.

So I wouldn't complain, at least you don't have to pay the rent.
