What do you think of this?

I think this is ridiculous, i looks like those blankets wont protect anything there sides are wide open.

Also, if people were really concerned about school shootings metal detectors and pat downs will do the job just fine.

What if the threat isn't a student but someone else? Someone armed and dangerous won't care about metal detectors or pat downs anyway. Neither of these options will work in large schools anyway. It's gonna take way too long to go through everyone.

I don't wanna get into why school shootings occur or any of that mess. However, this idea is pretty dumb. It'd make more sense getting them a set of emergency vests instead of blankets. I'm sure a shooter will easily run to your side while you struggle to rotate yourself.

I think they need these in class rooms and if an intruder alert happens everyone just pads up the windows and stays in the corner.

I think this may just be to make them FEEL safer. Give them and parents a bit of reassurance that they will be fine and have protection.

It's a great idea, it just makes them look like weirdos though.

Have to say, it was a pretty nice attempt but they're still completely vulnurable - and even if the bullet doesn't hit them and it hits the "blanket", it'll still do significant damage to them. Think of a bullet proof vest, people don't walk away from those unharmed all the time.
