So there's a Facebook page which currently has 200k Likes:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I understand the need to raise awareness for Cancer, but I don't see how taking a Selfie without make-up on helps.
If people want to help then they should donate, it's not hard to text the Cancer awareness line [in the UK anyway] and donate some money that way.

People are saying 'It's all for a good cause and to raise awareness' but I could raise awareness of a child being attacked, if nobody acts on that awareness then the child is still going to die.
I've seen 1 person out of the 20-odd which have popped up on my feed actually put the cancer awareness number and a picture of how much they've donated.

I don't have a problem with people posting no make-up selfies for cancer awareness, but at least act on it.
If not, it's pointless.

EDIT:
I made this rant before the news stories broke about the 1 Million pounds which had been raised for Cancer research UK.
At the time of making this rant I didn't realize how much of an effect this was actually having, I apologize.

I'll never understand Facebook pages. Some are just really dumb, like this one.

One girl made a page for her couple month year old daughter who had "cancer" and got donated money. I agree with you.

I don't understand, I get that more likes the more recognised the page is going to become, this may increase how popular the actual site is and the awareness of cancer may improve, but asking for likes is irrelevant for this, this is just awareness!

I think that raising awareness for this type of thing is always a positive thing. Even if that means getting the teens involved by using selfies as a way to raise awareness. This is raising awareness, not donating. I don't understand how you could take this as a bad thing as it is raising awareness of a horrible thing.

It's the thought of a teenage girl being out there somewhere, taking a selfie and thinking "I've done my part."
That just doesn't sit right with me.
I'm not saying that this in and of itself is a bad thing, but there is a lot more that could be done.
This page wouldn't be as popular if it was called: 'Donate 1GBP and take a no make-up selfie for cancer awareness.'

I checked my Facebook feed a few minutes ago and I saw a few of these no make-up selfies for Cancer awareness.
I honestly don't know how this helps and I think it's stupid.

The least they could do is donate to Cancer awareness, not post a useless selfie.

I think it's sick. Most of these people haven't got/lost a family member with cancer. I could guarantee you if any of these people had a family member that's got cancer or lost one, they would not do such a stupid thing like this.

I have seen a girl shave all of her hair off for cancer awareness & she also raised money. I think that's a lot better than "no make-up Selfie" + there are boys making fun of some of the girls that are taking these selfies, is that not also making fun of cancer awareness?
