EVGA wrote 2x4GB is fine - It's actually faster then 1x8GB.

Not much faster, just more usable bandwidth. Wouldn't notice the difference between single or dual channel.

Here's the system requirements for the new Battlefiel 4: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Here's a recommendation by Buxtyy for building my own gaming PC for a little over $800 US dollars: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now take a look at this gaming PC I found on newegg for $650 US dollars: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Sorry for all the links.

Anyways, I know I wouldn't be saving much, but according to the specs on that computer on newegg, it should run the game at top notch (okay, very nearly) graphics. Though the PC would be running at max efficiency.

Actually, is "recommended settings" top notch, or is it more like something the Xbox One would display as far as graphical output goes?

I've never owned a desktop before. How do they run when maxed out? Laptops get hot and wear out quickly when you do that.

Anyways, what do you think is the better way to go?

Hmmm, it looks like that gaming PC on newegg has some pretty bad reviews ,: \

Recommended meaning that you would be running it fairly well. Not the highest upon highest mind you, but pretty well. I'll loosely quote what someone from EA said about BF3 on Xbox 360 compared to PC. "BF3 on Xbox 360 is like running BF3 on PC and using the low settings." When you think about it spec wise, it does make sense.

That Newegg build has a 7770. There's a huuuuuuge different between the 760 and the 7770, huge. It won't run games top notch, they just say that for marketing purposes. Build your own computer, that way you know what you're putting into it and how it's been built. Obviously you will build your computer with absolute care, because it's going to be your personal computer. Whereas Newegg will just throw the parts together and ship it off to you, as all they want is the money.

I find desktops to be better than laptops in most areas. I've owned a couple of laptops and honestly none of them compare to this computer I've built. They always used to burn out on me, then I'd have to send it in to get fixed ect, it's just a hassle. You won't get that with a desktop. After building it, if something does go wrong you will be able to diagnose the problem and fix it yourself, rather than sending it in and waiting 3 weeks for them to tell you it's broken.

Its quite possible, and that's even restricting myself to one retailer. If you were willing to shop around you could buy all your parts from different vendors and possibly get money back from mail in rebates.

Something else you don't get with consoles is the ability to choose where you want more money spent. So if you didn't want fast storage, and more gaming power, thats fine. If you'd rather a slightly slower processor and faster gaming power thats fine too.

Most builds people suggest here have upgrade routes, so if you choose parts now, you'll be able to add in more parts and performance later on down the line.

why even evga? the acx cooler is trash

They offer a nice transferable warranty, and no that cooler isn't trash.

Please educate yourself, then feel free to return.

EVGA wrote I'd personally go with this.

HD 7970 will run most/all games at max settings. FX-8320 is a strong CPU for the price. 8GB of RAM.
where did u pick those parts out at? Newegg amazon where?

I really want to do this, but if my friends won't join me, I'm not sure.

That is one thing I like about console gaming more. It's simple, all updates are automatic and you don't have to fuss with third party servers like gamespy.

Then again, I'm not sure how the servers work with these newer games.
