Establish wrote Great job on the essay, but, I don't see why this can't be learned through the internet. The internet provides one with all this knowledge or more. For example, if one wanted to know why the American voting age was lowered to 18, they could take an American History course for a semester. Or, they could search it up on Google. I agree that History should be taught at least once throughout the school curriculum, but more than once isn't truly needed. The Internet provides you with more information (and likely more accurate and updates as well) than a History course ever will. As for History being the most important subject? I'd highly disagree. I'd venture to say English, Math, and Drama, believe it or not, are more important than History.

But how many kids are willing to look up the information if they don't think its important to them? By burning these historical situations into their minds, they can show what not to do. How is Drama one of the most important subjects?

They would, if they feel like it. Of course, everyone needs to learn about WW1, WW2, the Rwandan Genocide, etc, but I don't see why that can't be done with one simple course, rather than carrying it out over a stretch of years.

The reason why I say that Drama is one of the most important subjects, is because in Drama, you perform to a group of people. In today's world, people are moving from locked up cubicles into open spaces, and if you can't communicate effectively or share your ideas with a group of people, you're not going to keep any job.

Well it takes time to teach those instances of history with entire detail, and you can learn social and speaking skills in classes like Public Speech or by doing presentations in class or groups in class, lets be honest, we've all done them. No kid is going to google historical things in their own time, especially in today's world. (Except me haha)

Not every school has a "Public Speech" course, but yes, you could also learn those skills in Public Speech. However, Drama is one of those courses that can help a person open up and be more social. Also, if some person has a question about something that happened in the past, which is technically "history", they'll Google it. Maybe it's just me, but most of what I actually learn in History has no relevance or meaning in my real life, and it doesn't actually help me with anything. After the course is done, I forget mostly everything, because I don't actually use any of that knowledge in real life. Sure, there are important concepts in History, and I'm not denying that. But, it's a course in which the vast, vast majority of information that you receive, you will never use.

Every story has a moral, and history is just the teaching of a bunch of stories haha

I guess so. I used to love History, but now, I hate it, and in my opinion, it's boring.

You just have to connect with the material man.

PS: We've quoted A LOT. haha

You use it in every decision of your life. You take things that have happened to you and learn from them, just as humanity takes things that has happened to it and gives it to you to learn, because you are humanity, and you need to know your upbringing, in my opinion and in many others'.

Being honest, I couldnt be bothered to read your paper, but if I understand correctly, you're annoyed that people say history is pointless.

I don't find history pointless, I studied modern history at GCSE level because I found it interesting. We all have our opinions, and they won't all be the same, so you shouldn't really be bothered about somebody who's trying to broadcast that their opinion is fact - just ignore them and continue doing the things you enjoy.

I suppose you're correct, I'm just trying to help them by showing how a section of education is beneficial, so they don't continue seeing it as a waste of time when its not.

I like to see people who think as you do. History was and still is my favorite subject when I was in school. It is also important for kids these days to learn the background of civilization and how they we got here.

Thats how my school's student body is too.. it makes me kinda sad and pitiful towards them, but oh well, I know it's benefit, maybe they'll see one day, hopefully soon.
