Establish wrote Great job on the essay, but, I don't see why this can't be learned through the internet. The internet provides one with all this knowledge or more. For example, if one wanted to know why the American voting age was lowered to 18, they could take an American History course for a semester. Or, they could search it up on Google. I agree that History should be taught at least once throughout the school curriculum, but more than once isn't truly needed. The Internet provides you with more information (and likely more accurate and updates as well) than a History course ever will. As for History being the most important subject? I'd highly disagree. I'd venture to say English, Math, and Drama, believe it or not, are more important than History.

Let's be honest, how many people are going to research history on the internet on their own time? And how do you know that a source is reliable? Nothing can replace the knowledge you gain from school.

But how many kids are willing to look up the information if they don't think its important to them? By burning these historical situations into their minds, they can show what not to do. How is Drama one of the most important subjects?

Edit: I added Ripe's reply, we replied at basically the same time saying the same thing haha, go Ripe!

They would, if they feel like it. Of course, everyone needs to learn about WW1, WW2, the Rwandan Genocide, etc, but I don't see why that can't be done with one simple course, rather than carrying it out over a stretch of years.

The reason why I say that Drama is one of the most important subjects, is because in Drama, you perform to a group of people. In today's world, people are moving from locked up cubicles into open spaces, and if you can't communicate effectively or share your ideas with a group of people, you're not going to keep any job.

Well it takes time to teach those instances of history with entire detail, and you can learn social and speaking skills in classes like Public Speech or by doing presentations in class or groups in class, lets be honest, we've all done them. No kid is going to google historical things in their own time, especially in today's world. (Except me haha)

It's important if you need to study. Some people don't need to and they can do just as well as anybody that does study. I got 100% on a final exam for history and I was the only one who did. I didn't study. It all depends on who YOU are.

I feel some do connect to the material better than others, everyone has a part of history they like, its inevitable.

Not every school has a "Public Speech" course, but yes, you could also learn those skills in Public Speech. However, Drama is one of those courses that can help a person open up and be more social. Also, if some person has a question about something that happened in the past, which is technically "history", they'll Google it. Maybe it's just me, but most of what I actually learn in History has no relevance or meaning in my real life, and it doesn't actually help me with anything. After the course is done, I forget mostly everything, because I don't actually use any of that knowledge in real life. Sure, there are important concepts in History, and I'm not denying that. But, it's a course in which the vast, vast majority of information that you receive, you will never use.

Hillin wrote I read about half of it, looks really good. Honestly you should do pretty good on this.

I really love History, I agree that it should be taught more, for me history is very interesting.

History is easily my favorite subject, I could sit and listen to someone who knows their stuff for hours without getting bored. I just get so connected to certain things, its weird but I love it.

That's exactly how I am, when it comes to learning History I don't get bored, I just find it entertaining in a way, that's the only subject in school that I actually really enjoy besides certain Science.

Every story has a moral, and history is just the teaching of a bunch of stories haha

I guess so. I used to love History, but now, I hate it, and in my opinion, it's boring.
