you need to do some heavy lifting.

That's where your wrong, if anything push ups is way better than weight lifting period.
Just eat healthy, and if your going to do protein shakes just make sure you work out, sitting down all say and drinking those won't do anything.

I hope you realize sit ups and push ups do barely anything at all.

Are you trying to lose weight, or what? If so, you're heading in the opposite direction. I lost 60 lbs in 4 months.

btw seeing as you're doing it every night, you can't do every other get some dumbbells do crunches every second night.
