I'd forget about 1440p altogether, it's not worth the premium over 1080p anyways. Hell you can get 4k for cheaper.

Don't skimp on other hardware just to get a GPU that will run a res you don't need.

Also, you won't want to run a 780 on a 450W, that bitch is loud as shit when a 760 is on it, let alone a 780!

Wot. Where are you seeing these cheap 4k panels? 4k is twice as hard to run as 1440p, it's also almost twice as expensive as 1440p. You're looking at £340ish for a decent 4k panel, or £170-£250 for a 1440p panel. Considering 1080p is only £60 cheaper than 1080p, it's definitely worth it. 450W is easily enough to run a 780, no point sending loads of money on a larger wattage PSU when you won't need it, especially without SLI support anyway.

I'd say the same, however, H81 chipset mobo with i5 and 390 on a 1080p panel? That's literally the same situation, with a lower resolution monitor.

You can easily get a nice, well balanced rig with a 1440p panel for £700. Downgrading to the 1080p panel will only save £60 which would be enough to get OP an SSD but IMO, he'd be much better off with a 285/780 and 1440p panel with no SSD for now, and adding an SSD asap since adding an SSD is easy. Upgrading monitor is more of a pain in the ass since it's more expensive, and what not.

Never said 450W couldn't run a 780, just i wouldn't want it to.

I put my 770 on one and it was extremely loud and under constant load. Now i would never ever recommend that to people since I've had first hand experience with it.

Yeah, if OP wants to spend a little extra, fair enough. The 450W will do just fine though. Noise shouldn't really be a huge issue at all. I ran an old AMD GPU. About 3 years ago I think, must have been my Ivy Bridge Pentium and HD7870 days, on a 430W unit just fine and that thing must have been pulling close to 400W, at least. It was some cheap Cooler Master PSU as well, so wasn't even great quality but was still absolutely fine for me back then.

I'm just trying to make a point about that unit. It is VERY loud when under load. Like to the point where i turned my rig off and uninstalled it within hours.

So if noise is an issue to OP. He is going to want another unit.
