don't get me wrong you pc players do have better graphics ect.. But it comes at a cost and within 2 years your pc will be outdated and half the price you payed for it

Not even remotely true. You could build a starter rig for only £230 which will either perform on par with consoles, or even better in some cases.

As for your argument that mods ruin games, have a look at GTA IV and tell me that all the texture mods, and graphics enhancers "ruined" that game. Sure, god mode and flying mode shit in CoD is fairly annoying, but you get that shit on consoles too.

This is the kind of ignorance that causes the whole "PCMR" joke.

PCs don't magically deteriorate over time.. They have the same specs as they do when you first build it, this works exactly the same as any hardware to ever exist.

The reason you say it's "outdated" is because hardware is a constantly evolving thing. That's like seeing Ferrari bring out a new model then expect them to not further develop a newer, better model.

If I had an Xbox One, a PS4 and a PC right now, I could make a more powerful PC that would last me much longer than either of the consoles.
Currently, the so-called "next-gen" struggle to achieve 1080p @ 60fps for a lot of games. And, no, this isn't because "they aren't optimised enough yet" or "the developers have not had enough time to get the full use of the hardware".

All of these are just terrible excuses given by console fanboys that have their heads stuck so far up their arse that they have turned inside-out.

Just for arguments sake, here's a cheap build that's currently listed on the PCMR subreddit:

This build uses an R9 280 graphics card. The GPU used in the Xbox One is roughly a 7790 with the PS4 being comparable to the 7870.

That's £277 at current rates. Hardly £600, is it?
Which is pretty good considering it outperforms both "next-gen" consoles and supposedly half the price to just get started on PC gaming.

90% of all your PC gaming is going to be done on a platform such a Steam or Origin and these both have firm anti cheats on them, in fact I see less modders on PC than I did on console.

Let's, for arguments sake, look at some mods for Skyrim as I have them available.

  • SkyUI - PC-friendly interface mod with many advanced features.
  • Unofficial Skyrim Patch - A comprehensive bugfixing mod.
  • Quality World Map - Improves quality of the world map, including all roads instead of just the main paths.
  • Alternate Start - Provides alternative means to start the game, changing the lore behind your character and providing different beginner equipment.
  • Static Mesh Improvement Mod - Greatly improves countless static 3D models.
  • Realistic Ragdolls and Force
  • Skyrim Flora Overhaul - Adds high-detailed textures, new trees, various different grass types and flowers.
  • Falskaar - DLC mod that adds 20+ hours of quests, dungeons and more.

Now, please tell me how this tiny list of mods ruin my game?

I mean all I see is free community-created content that either fixes bugs and improves visuals or adds DLC and makes my game more immersive and enjoyable.
I must be missing a key part of these to see where they ruin it, maybe I misread something.

P.S. If your whole argument is based on "cheats" and people using god mode, etc. then what the hell do you call this:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Cause those are all console lobbies.

I think your point should aim towards the general "cheaters ruin the game", which are present on every platform.

Besides which, 95% of servers on PC have strict anti-cheat software that will ban you from them if you use cheats such as VAC and PunkBuster.
Even the ones that are cracked to allow pirated copies of games to play have their own version of anti-cheat to stop people ruining the game for others.

~snip

If only 95% of Servers had Anti-Cheat I'd be shocked. 99% sounds more likely with AAA, and virtually ALL Steam Servers have some form of Anti-Cheat (Doesn't have to be VAC but VAC is the most secure and is on almost every single server)

You've missed something big imo.

I believe he meant Hacks. The general stigma is that there's millions of hackers on PC.

In some games yes, there are cheats. In 95% of games it's probably no or still undocumented.
Mods are modifications, not hacks.
changing Skyrims textures is modding, it allows you to fully customize the game in any way you want.

You want bright pink dragons that look like they're from 1990? Believe it or not, there's most likely a mod for that.

"ruined by mods" I hope you're talking about hacks because you're completely wrong. Modding is what makes games sell even more on PC (with the exception of AAA titles and GTA V but some elite modders have gotten access to GTA V files and are currently testing modifying them)

If you legitimately think that being able to change files in a game to make it look/play however you want is a bad thing, stick to consoles and your Hacks. They are 2 VERY different things.

Look lets be realistic,
PC is the better gaming platform !

But if you want to play Xbox then do so !
If you want to play Playstation, again do so !
its your own personal choice, but if you have any sense and like to enjoy games better,
get a PC ;)

I find consoles more casual, that's why I'm a console "gamer".

Yeah, I think this is the key thing with the whole xbox vs ps4 vs wiiu vs pc vs whatever.

Despite PC being a better platform (and without getting into developer technicalities), as long as you can enjoy playing some games with a few friends you shouldn't have to complain or argue with anyone.

What is it that makes you class them as more casual though?

Steam's Big Picture mode pretty much makes a PC work like the typical console interface.
I often like to sit back on my sofa, launch up some game via Big Picture and sit back with my controller.

If you wanted a completely "casual" experience with PC gaming, SteamOS offers a nice fast interface, acting similar to Big Picture.

You don't have to build an xbox.

Put it this way, I'm not good with PC hardware and software.
