someone answer this for me. Do you have to upgrade your alternator and electrical system to get subs? just wondering people told me that if you don't, your amp goes into protective mode and won't work, your lights will flicker, and your battery will drain alot.

Only if you're running really high wattage. I'm running about 1600w just off my subs alone & my alternator does just fine.

My advice would be, get new speakers if you haven't already done so and then get subs.

I know plenty of people who haven't upgraded there speakers and just put in subs. YThat's not true, it doesnt over power the speakers at all. You can control the bass of the sub. Trust me, I've been in many cars with a set up like this.Unless you have plenty of money extra to blow, don't upgrade your speakers

I'd rather have nice, crisp sounding music than having my car shake right off the wheels. And yeah you're right about being able to control the subs but barely anybody, at least where I live does that, they simply buy subs just to be heard from blocks away. For example my cousin has 2 enclosed 10" subs in the back of his truck and it sounds horrific. The subs sound fine but his stock speakers sound like garbage because if you're in there you only focus on the subs kick and not the actual music. But hey, if you have a different opinion then I'm not going to argue, and personally don't care enough to.

Yeah I would want good speakers and one sub now, I want to have good sounding music just not rattling every car.

I have 2 10s JL Audio. They're not in atm because I blew a fuse in my amp, so I'm in the process of replacing that.
