is buying a pre built computer not as good/are the specs lower and lower processing power? I dont necessarily need a power house. Like i said, the laptop i have (its not a gaming one but best pc i have in the house atm) can barely run a 420p video on youtube...So i just want a pc that can handle running daily shooters/mmos with decent graphics.

Pre-builts computers use the same components as any other pc (well.. mostly). The problem a lot of people have with pre-builts is they are insanely overpriced. Buying a $700 pb(pb = pre-built. im coining this acronym dont copy me) is the same as handing a stranger $700 and asking him to punch you in the jaw, then pee on you. Pbs get exponentially worse as the price goes down. The ones for like $500-600 use cheap and generic psu's that are not quality and are usually very cheap. Sometimes, the mobo will even be a pos that looked like it was bought from a Chinese second-hand shop.

So to answer, your question: PBs do not have "lower specs", but they are built with cheap parts and are overpriced. Anyone with some knowledge would recommend someone build there own pc. But, especially if you have a low budget... these companies are robbing people blind, man.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but it is the most important question the forums need to know. What is your budget? How much would you be willing to spend (usa or uk? other?)?.

If you're going to be building a PC for gaming and you have a nice budget, i'd recommend an i5 3570k CPU and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or the Radeon equivalent. AMD CPU's may be a little bit cheaper for more cores or whatever, but i'd stay away from them. I've heard bad things about them. Do some research on PCs and look at youtube videos. A popular motherboard to use would be the GIGABYTE brand ones. Just make sure you get the right socket for your CPU or you're going to be having some problems. Also, make sure you get enough power from the PSU to power everything and a big enough case to house it all. As i said, just look up some PC building videos on youtube and learn from them. Don't buy prebuilt PCs as they are waaaay over priced for the specs they have. You will not need anything over 8GB of RAM for gaming on a PC. For RAM and a PSU Corsair is usually a preferred brand. Corsair also makes nice cases.

Good luck!

for me an ideal gaming PC would have these specs

Processor: Intel Core i5
GPU: NVIDIA GT 620 1GB Graphics Card
Memory: 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz Memory
Hard Drive: Atleast 1TB
Mobo: Intel Chipset

That would cost around 500.
