I just simply don't feel like playing Minecraft anymore, putting hours and hours into a world if my saves are not going to work properly.

well when you spawn or die you go really far from your place /:

so place a bed so you can spawn there

Matches wrote Hmmmm, that is very peculiar. I have somewhat the relevant same problem. When I saved my world and come back to it, while it loads it just freezes. All I can say is try saving regularly or try backing up your save. I know it sounds cliche but I guess we have to All I know is that I am going dark on minecraft until the new updates come out. Creative mode and A LOT more bug fixes.
