Xbox One Adds Two Backwards Compatible Games

As it has done nearly every Tuesday for the past several weeks, Microsoft has rolled out another new batch of backwards compatible games for Xbox One. Two more Xbox 360 titles are now playable on the company's current-gen console, and this week both of them come from Dying Light developer Techland's first-person western series, Call of Juarez--perfect if you need something to tide you over until Red Dead Redemption 2 launches next month.

The first game is 2009's Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. Despite being the second entry in the series, it serves as a prequel to the original Call of Juarez. When it first released, GameSpot awarded the Xbox 360 version an 8/10 in our Bound in Blood review and said, "Though the game is marred by its short length and weak enemy AI, those looking for a fun and different shooter experience shouldn't have any hesitation about biting the bullet and taking a ride with the McCalls."

The second new backwards compatible game is Call of Juarez: The Cartel. Unlike other installments in the series, this title features cooperative elements and is set in the modern day, casting players in the role of one of three agents tasked with busting a drug network. It didn't fare quite as well as its predecessor; GameSpot gave it a 6/10 in our Cartel review, saying, "The Cartel is worth playing if you have a buddy or two along for the ride. Otherwise, the potential is hard to see hiding behind all the glitches and obscenities."

If you still own a physical copy of either title, you can pop the disc into your Xbox One, which will initiate a download and allow you to begin playing. Alternatively, if you've owned either title digitally, it will appear automatically in the Ready to Download section of Xbox One's My Games and Apps menu. If you're interested in picking either up for the first time, you also have the option to purchase the games digitally from the Microsoft Store.

Since Microsoft rolled out Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature, more than 400 Xbox 360 titles have been made playable on the current-gen console, as have more than 30 original Xbox games.

Any thoughts on these new games coming to the backwards compatibility program?
