I've currently got a download speed of 30mbs

When playing Xbox I'm lagging on all games and constantly going to a 1 bad connection, Netflix runs smoothly with hd view but mobile phones are also quite slow. I've even tried playing with a connected cable but still just get lag

Playing with an Ethernet cable is always going to make things easier and faster.
You could contact your ISP and see what kind of package you have, and how much it would cost to change your package to make your internet speed faster
You could looks around at other ISPs in your area and go with one of those instead, find a friend or a neighbor, ask them about their internet speed and how much they pay for it.

even playing with an Ethernet cable it's just awful, I've had the same download speed for the past year and lagging has never been an issue only the past 2 weeks it's been like this!

Who's your provider? It seems like you may need to either increase your plans mb/s speed or switch providers all together.

That seems a bit weird then. Have you tried the obvious unplugging the router/modem for 1-2 minutes then plug it in and wait another few minutes? You may also have too many devices connected and using your connection, maybe neighbors got into it if it's unsecured? You can look up how to log in to your router from your browser on google and try to see the devices connected and take off the ones you don't recognize, I did this once.

Mines is the same, I have Sky fibre broadband and my internet is at like 28 mbps.. I seen on a deal with virgin that you can get 100+ mbps for around 30 a month included tv packages etc! Currently paying £45 a month for my sky package..

i would assume its a ping issue not download and upload, then again he/she might be getting packet loss, dont exactly know his issue all together but more download and upload would help but not by much if the isp he/she is with is trash

As wild as this sounds because when I was told this I was baffled.
But I have also been having really slow speeds with my ISP so I called and they sent multiple people on multiple occasions.

Finally they had a Field supervisor come out and they told my the "wires in my walls needed replacing"
So I would have someone come out and check everything because I didn't even know you could have bad wires and I've been the one in my household dealing with the Internet since I was like 9.

My best advice would be to see what connection you're connecting to, i.e 2.5Ghz or 5Ghz.

Some providers should give you the option to seperate them via the modem control panel on you routers IP.

I am with Virgin media and i have 2 WIFI hotspots set up in my house one for devices that can't handle 5Ghz and for ones that Can.

Example:
VM5 -5GHZ
VM2 - 2.5GHZ

I would always recommend splitting them both.

Do a "Detailed network statistics" under the network tab on xbox. I have been playing with 30mb/s internet for years wifi and ethernet and I never lag. It would probably be a high ping number causing you to lag.
