So I'm currently at about 18% body fat or so. My arms and chest are toned but I do have a minor beer belly. I already know about dieting since I've done it before when I had abs but for workouts is it better to do ab workouts or cardio to kill the beer belly? What routines did/do you guys use to kill the gut?

Reduce or suspend alcoholic intake and watch your carbs imo.

Alcohol lowers testosterone and increases estrogen and usually when people drink, they eat snacks too, peanuts, crisps etc. Snacks and also alcohol having lots of calories cause a large caloric surplus which leads to most of the extra calories being stored as fat. That's basically the idea behind a beer belly.

There's more fat around your belly area because that's where the majority of your organs are located and to lose that fat, it's the same as losing any other fat.

Calories out>Calories in

You need to burn more calories than you intake, this will cause your body to use your fat to makeup for the lack of calories.

After a while your bodyfat percentage will lower and you'll notice that your abdominal fat is decreasing.

I wouldn't recommend ab workouts though, if you've got a layer of fat covering your abdominals then making your abdominals bigger will just push your beer belly out further and make it look like you're carrying more fat.

Stop drinking beer and eat healthy...

It's not complicated people if you burn more cals than you eat you loose weight, if you eat more cals than you burn you gain weight.

I don't literally drink... at all actually a beer belly meant a slight gut and I already eat fairly healthy

Okay my fault. Anyways it's impossible to target a specific area of your body for fat loss, meaning you can't only loose weight in your belly and nowhere else.

The easiest way to look at it is burn more calories than your eating and you will start loosing weight.

You've probably heard "abs are made in the kitchen" before. The saying is quite true, you can do all the ab workouts you want, but if you don't loose the body fat covering, then you won't be getting those shredded abs you want.

Man when I was 14 I was huge like almost 250 pounds. I started eating healthy and going to the gym. Now I'm 17 and 190 pounds and still grinding. You can work out all you want but it won't change much without eating the proper stuff!
