So as seen as night fall came my dog started acting very unusual... she's very hyper, baying at the moon, howling, pacing, drinking water, panting and just acting uneasy overall. Could this be from the solar eclipse?

I didn't notice anything strange with my dog, but he's 1 year old this month, unsure if age has anything to do with it but I spoke with a lot of crazy people today.

if im not mistaken animals have a sense of natural disasters and things like that, id assume an eclipse would fall into the same category.

As far as I'm aware, possibly. My dog was acting crazy during it trying to get outside throughout the whole thing. Neighbors dogs were going ham.

They wouldn't understand whats going to the same extent as we would, I'm sure dogs just get afraid and act unusual to cope.
Weird to see it though

An eclipse is a natural process but with it occurring so infrequently in different parts of the world each time, it's unnatural for everything on the planet to experience so everything reacts differently.

Flowers close
Birds stop flying and chirping, thinking it's night time
Other animals are surprised buy the quick disappearance and reappearance of the sun, when they know it should be daylight
Humans, experience it the same as animals, we're stunned and in awe. Some panic, some get hyper.

In past times, humans used to believe that a dragon or a beast had stolen or destroyed their sun, so they fired arrows up towards where the sun should have been in order to 'kill the beast' not knowing what it was. They then executed the astronomers due to the sun disappearing without warning.

Dog's and well many animals are on a set schedule and know what comes around what time usually. Take my golden/boxer for example. One is used to sleeping most of the day and is more of a night owl, IMO.

When the totality area hit around 2:40 for us, he was up and pacing around, because he didn't know better. As for my boxer, she was looking around, and pacing a little nothing much. There is a reason they advise before these happen "keep any household animals indoors with lighting", it is so they are not easily offset.

Now this was just an example of my two, everyone is different, and all animals are different.

Another decent example would be natural wildlife (birds, crickets, cicadas, ETC) would start to come out, or go into hiding during the eclipse. Farm animals, when the area started to dim down, most people who own farms, and let them graze freely know that they would head back towards the barn/stable.
