Back story: My friend is a Mechanic and has already completed one year at our local tech school for automotive and has completed 2 ASE's. He hasn't received any degree from the tech school yet.

Should he finish and get his Associates Degree? or work for his ASE's?

From a pure consumer view, the ASE certification means everything. Pretty much no one knows what it means, but everyone hears about "our techs are ASE certified" so they won't go to a place unless they hire ASE certified techs.
