How long can you last out?
Make them fall is an addictive arcade game which will have you concentrating and sweating harder than you ever have before. In this game you are in control of stickmen falling down in between two walls. Tapping anywhere in between the walls will make the stickman jump between them. You must use this manoeuvre to your advantage to avoid spikes that you come across on your journey down the infinite walls. The think about this game which separates it from others is that Ketchapp didn't just settle for 2 stickmen, but up to 6 at a time! The more stickmen there are at a time, the more sections of the screen that you have to control at the same meaning the more attention you have to pay as losing just one stickman to the spikes will end the whole game. These modes are called from 2 - 6 respectively; Normal, Nightmare, Hell, Inferno and Impossible. There is also a mode called Cardiac which is slightly different; Cardiac is the opposite to the regular modes, you only control one stickman at a time, but instead of avoiding spikes, you have to collect love hearts. You play the game exactly the opposite, you have to move to the side that the hearts are on. You have 3 lives, every heart you miss will take away one life. Two additions I would like to see are maybe there are also spikes along with the hearts, and Cardiac being another game mode so you can have varying amounts of stickmen all trying to collect hearts. Overall I think the gameplay in this game is very unique, and fun to play. You could also play with friends, with different people looking after different stickmen!
The graphics in this game are very simple, but I would have them no other way. The visuals are what makes this game what it is, colors are used to differentiate the different areas on the screen, all of the colors used are blue, orange, green, yellow, black and pink. I think that these are a good choice of colors as they all stand out next to each other which does genuinely help when playing the game, you are sometimes focusing so much that your brain doesn't have time to process slightly more complex factors so simply seeing the black spikes against brightly colored background can really aid you when you have a high score and the spikes are coming at the stickmen faster and faster. There are also some smaller features that just add to the overall good look of the game, one of these would be the faint particles that the stickmen create as they are sliding down the walls, I also quite like how there is that detail but the walls are simple straight black lines and have no edges or additional detail to them.
The audio in this game isn't quite as impressive as the graphics, the only sounds I really noticed were when you are jumping off the walls. I feel like this sound doesn't really belong as it doesn't sound anything like a person jumping off a wall or hitting a wall, it is just a computer made sound effect. The only other audio that I noticed in the game at least makes more sense, when you successfully pass a spike and get a point it plays another quick, computer generated sound that actually sounds like something you would expect to hear. Overall there isn't much to the audio in this game but to be honest that could be for the better, having loads of loud sounds playing at once would be distracting.
The controls in this game are as simple as they can get really, all you have to do is tap on the screen in the designated area and the stickman will jump across onto the wall opposite. It really puts you to the test when you are playing with 5,6 or even 4 stickmen at a time and you have to co-ordinate all of the moves that you make. Having to be able to watch 6 different places at once is also a massive task, two is fairly easy as they are next to each other, but as the spikes are completely random, having two spikes pop up at different times, on different sides, in areas on the other side of the screen is a real challenge. The controls couldn't, and shouldn't be changed as they are perfect the way they are.
Overall - 9/10
