Gameplay:

Welcome to Stranded Deep, One of the newest survival based games to hit the Steam market. This game is one of my new favorite survival games to play when I have some down time. When the game launches you will find yourself on your own private jet when all of a sudden your plane goes down and you are stranded in the middle of the ocean. As you board your little rubber raft and make your way to the nearest island you will come to the realization that you are now on your own and have no way of getting help from anyone. As the sun rises and you start collecting precious resources to survive on you will have to start making very important decisions based on what you are doing. Should you start collecting fire wood and materials to build a shelter or should you gather food and water to survive on? The choice is completely yours and will impact your game play. This game has a lot of marine wild life that you can kill and skin to eat. Your raft is going to be your new best friend and if you lose your best friend there is really no chance of you surviving very long at all so I suggest that you make sure to drag your raft on the shore before leaving it all by itself. The point of this game is to survive as long as possible but with it being early access I am sure some type of plot will be added to the game in time.

As you begin to progress through the game and start getting a nice shelter going and have a good amount of resources stocked up you might decide it is time to begin to adventure to some other islands of in the vast distance or maybe you would rather go investigate a sunken ship in the hopes to find something that can help you possibly move about faster or help you defend yourself when need be. This game is the only game that makes me jump when a shark comes from behind me and I don't notice the shark until it hits my raft and I am thrown into the water and try my hardest to defend myself from this predator as it tries to come at me and attack me. There are a few different types of sharks in this game and the great white shark is the worse one to ever run into. Even if you have a really good weapon they can be a huge issue and can ruin everything you are trying to do. Other Islands are a really good way to gather more resources to bring back to your "main" island but do be careful and make sure you don't get lost on your way back to your island. I have done this exact thing many times and if you are not careful it can cause you to die. Overall this game is really one of my new favorite survival games to play and is something I would recommend to check out. The game play is really fun and can be a bit scary at times. This game is pretty realistic and with it being a early access I can only see it becoming better as time goes on. For the price it cost I think it is well worth it. I personally find myself being able to play this game for hours unlike other survival based games.

Graphics:

The graphics for Stranded Deep are something that truly impressed me when I played this game for the first time. For this game being a early access I think the graphics are already extremely detailed and look really good. One of the things that impressed me the most was the shadowing with all the trees and shrubs as the sun would rise and fall. I found myself a few times just standing there enjoying the view as a whale would pass by my island and I could see it swimming in the water with not a care in the world. From what I can tell all the animals seem to move just fine, but there was a few time I would have a whale swimming through my island but I am sure this small bug will be fixed if it is not already. I personally think the graphics are way better then most early access games and think any gamer would be slightly impressed when it is their first time playing the game. Overall I found the graphics to be way above what should be expected for a early access game and think anyone would find that they really help make the game standout well from the rest of the survival based games. I am big on attention to detail and I was truly impressed by the amount of detail put into this game.

Controls:

The controls for Stranded Deep are really just your average basic controls you would expect to see in a survival based game. If you have ever played a survival type game on PC before then you will be able to get the controls for this game down fairly fast. This game does have some more advanced things you can do but for people like me that are okay with just the basic controls I found them to be very easy to use and it helps make the game a lot more enjoyable when I can just relax and play the game and not have to think about what button to press next. Overall the controls for Stranded Deep are really easy to learn and memorize. I would not see how really any gamer would have any type of problem with the control layout and I feel like most would find the controls easy to use and relaxing while playing the game. There are a few tutorials out there if it is really needed but I think for most you will be able to figure it out on your own.
