Synopsis
Detailing Dante's early years and set against a contemporary backdrop, DmC Devil May Cry will retain the stylish action, fluid combat and self-assured protagonist that have defined the iconic series but inject a more brutal and visceral edge. The Dante of DmC is a young man who has no respect for authority or society in general. Dante knows that he is not human, but also that he is not like the demons that have tormented him throughout his life. Caught between worlds, he feels like an outcast. He is now discovering and coming to terms with what it means to be the child of a demon and an angel. This split personality has a real impact on gameplay with Dante being able to call upon angel and demon abilities at will, transforming his Rebellion sword on the fly to dramatically affect both combat and movement. For DmC Capcom has teamed up with UK development studio, Ninja Theory, renown for delivering action titles with compelling characters and narrative coupled with high production values. The combination of Ninja Theory's expertise and Capcom's unrivalled heritage in producing combat focused action titles will ensure that this latest addition to the multi-million selling series will remain true to the Devil May Cry DNA so cherished by the fans, while bringing a new level of cinematic quality to the title.

Gameplay
Players take control of Dante just like they did in previous installments of this series. In this game however, you (the player) control Dante in "Limbo" where you perform combos by attacking with his sword, Rebellion, and shooting his twin pistols, Ebony and Ivory. There are two fighting modifiers new to the series, known as Angel mode and Devil mode activated while fighting by holding down either the left or right trigger(s). Devil mode is more aggressive and used to pull enemies towards you (the heavy) and Angel mode is more passive and used to re-gen health and escape from difficult battles (light and fast).

Plot
The story takes place with a demon king, Mundus plotting to rule the world through debt. The only thing stopping him is the child from an Angel and a Demon, aka Dante. He is recruited by his twin brother, Virgil, to fight against Mundus! You fight throughout this game against Mundus and his army of demons slowly working your way to the final battle where you ultimately kill him and end his reign of terror. Where, you later figure out that your brother Virgil, wants to kill Mundus only to take his spot with you to rule the world, in which Dante has a problem with and yet another fight breaks loose, this time between two brothers.

Story
The story in this game in pretty engaging, but it gets pretty repetitive with the lower leveled enemies. The boss fights are quite fun, engaging, etc BUT, can also be really tough. The combo system is extensive and therefore allows you to flow from attack to attack, seamlessly. This game is also a prequel to the original storyline of the first game. Also, a side note is that they changed Dante's hair color from a solid white to a dark black color, and by the end of the game Dante get's his white hair color back. This game is fun, for multiple play troughs as well (on multiple difficulties). It makes for a great game and is well worth a play.

Graphics
For an Xbox 360 game the graphics within this game were well above par. They weren't as fantastic as they possibly could have been, but also not bad in the least aspect. The character design is quite nice, weapons look great, there isn't a lot of lag or frame-rate drops within the game, and the movements of enemies and characters alike are nice and flow well with everything happening within this game! Lastly, the boss fights within this game are graphically stunning and the graphics teams and dev teams alike put quite a bit of thought into making them look great, and being a special experience for the player.

Controls
The controls in this game were excellent. The controls all felt nice in my hand's and they weren't clunky in the least. There were 3 to 4 controller layouts, default being the obvious most versatile/easiest to use in my opinion. The controls were quite nice in this game, and I have no complaints about them to say the least.

Ratings
Gameplay - 8.5/10
Plot - 9/10
Story - 8.5/10
Controls - 9/10
Graphics - 8/10
Overall - 8.5/10

Personal Note: I enjoyed playing through this game many a times and this game is well worth at LEAST a rent, and maybe a purchase. This game was great from start to finish and I played through it multiple times without feeling like I was doing the EXACT same things I just did in the previous play though. Well worth a play!
