This single screen based game is set in an undisclosed village; all that is known to the player is that you are in a village surrounded by grass and a sky, basic village scenery. This brilliant and crude game is set around an abnormal alpaca that obtains a mutation that grants him the ability to thrive off the consumption of its fellow alpacas. The game has a very simple setting, creating an easy feel to the game despite being very diverse and imaginative along the way.

The gameplay itself is a basic touch screen element, you will spend the majority of your time thumb/finger mashing the screen, however do not let this put you off as Alpaca Evolution is by far one of the best apps I have come to download. The objective of the game is to absorb the alpacas you have knocked out and when you collect enough alpacas you are able to mutate to the next stage. As you progress through the game you find the story to become much darker and outrageously humorous, from gaining extra body mass to becoming a being of faces (literally a body of faces, no limbs) the game will definitely surprise you. Also as you progress through mutation stages it will become harder to level up as the amount of alpacas required goes up nearly every level, there are also levels where you are set back and have to rebuild your evolution however the game is so addictive, gripping and in fact just a huge mystery that you will want to play until the end. The ending itself is worth the wait, with multiple ending to choose from and the option of replaying the game to unlock a different ending the game keeps you hooked which is by far the best aspect of my gaming experience. The developers bring out updates every so often, usually adding new features so the game is something that can be returned to, in fact there are possible different mutation stages to be unlocked thus the game is becoming even more expandable in terms of what you are able to do, and for a free game that isn't bad!

This is a standard Appstore game therefore the graphics are not those to be ground breaking however, due to the context of the game I think the graphics go quite well. The alpaca has a basic movement which changes throughout the course of the mutations so I believe that deserves some significant credit. The actual scenery isnt one to appear boring either. I rate the graphics quite highly due to the fact effort was put it by changing how the alpaca moves each level which I think deserves credit.

The controls are really basic which makes the game quick, easy and fun. You literally just screen mash in order to knock out alpacas and absorb them. This way of playing can get quite boring towards the end of the game as it gets harder to progress however it is worth it when you finally evolve and complete this truly genius game!

In conclusion this was a very enjoyable app, it has so much to offer for something so simple (and free!). It was worth the time I had put into it and it was a barrel of laughs, I hope to see more from future updates and I was very pleased with my gaming experience.
