Synopsis
It is the year 2034. Beneath the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside - and within. Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt midst the poisoned skies above. But rather than stand united, the station-cities of the Metro are locked in a struggle for the ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6. A civil war is stirring that could wipe humanity from the face of the earth forever. As Artyom, burdened by guilt but driven by hope, you hold the key to our survival - the last light in our darkest hour...

Gameplay
The gameplay of this game is great. It is really fun and actually entertaining from the very beginning to the last few seconds of the game. There are many weapons, strategies, areas of Metro world, etc. This game can be played a new or from a reference point of the first game in the series, Metro 2033. When I say that, I mean that the stories tie into each other, but only for added information, new players will still have a great time, they just might not get ALL the references within the game. The game is amazing and shows a war-struck world with mutants and the visualization of what nuclear war on a global standpoint looks like. The world you experience and play in is literal Hell. The game is creepy, and not really because of monsters or jump scares, it's scary to see our world that we live and breath in torn to pieces in the matter of one button firing nukes that utterly destroyed the world we grew up in. The game is thrilling and will leave you wanting more. The story is amazing and is actually quite long compared to other games of this kind!

Plot
The plot of this game takes place exactly one year after the events within the first game when the character you play as, Artyom chose to fire missiles at an alien race known as the Dark Ones (suspected to be humans that were super evolved and mutated by radioactivity.) Artyom finds himself around D6 (in which they can't get open as of yet) which is a huge pre-war military facility where he is inducted as a ranger in the fight for the elongation and beneficial of the human race. He protects the remaining humans from mutants, each other, and insanity by providing order! Rumors start to spread about D6 saying that there are weapons and food to sustain the entire now underground human population for centuries. Other factions that strayed from the rangers power are gathering weapons and soldiers for when D6 is opened so that they may reap the rewards instead of everyone as a whole. Khan a wandering ranger comes back to the rest of the ranger group with news that he found a non hostile Dark One that he thinks should be used on their side as an allie rather than an enemy, the ranger leader instantly denies his request and sends teams to destroy the Dark One that he fears is like all the rest. Artyom actually ends up finding the Dark One who is just a child and actually chooses to give it a chance to speak for itself and he learns that they are a highly intelligent being and decides on his own judgement that he will help it and not follow orders and murder it.

Story
This is one of the best games I have played in a long time. It is dark and scary, but also quite fun and really amazing. There is also humor within the game, only there to show that humans still have to use humor to cope with what is going on around them to keep sane. The game seems almost real with the fact that nuclear war breaks out between nations utterly destroying humanity and sending humans underground away from the harmful enemies and radiation. The game is amazing to say the least and defiantly worth a play and more than likely also worth a purchase rather than a rental!

Graphics
The graphics within this game are perfection. They show the world in a post apocalyptic light that truly grasps the truth that is nuclear war. The game's graphics are gritty, dirty, and almost real. Enemies and characters within the game alike all look amazing, weapons were designed and implemented perfectly, and the game just has an all and all feel of war struck nations that are still fighting amongst each other underground as well as above ground with mutant enemies to boot! All in all, the designers of this game can never get enough credit, maybe I have a biased look on the graphics of this game because I loved it so much, but I truly do think the graphics and game alike are amazing.

Controls
The controls to this game are solid. Quality cover and stealth controls for combat, and great aiming and firing mechanics while in battles. The controls are easy to learn for most every player and should be any easy learn even for the slower learners and what not. The default layout is amazing. There a map-able controls to this game should you not like the default settings. No complaints within any of this review/game, and for sure not in the controls section.

Ratings
Gameplay - 8.5/10
Plot - 9.5/10
Story - 8.5/10
Controls - 8/10
Graphics - 9.5/10
Overall - 9.5/10

Personal Note: This game is amazing. The first game "Metro 2033" had me hooked from the beginning and now in this game (a much better game) the experience is even better! This is one of the top games that I have played this year and maybe even ever! The game's story is great, gameplay is also great, and the ending will leave you either crying or scratching your head. It is defiantly worth your hard earned money and effort!
