Synopsis
Featuring real Major League Baseball players, teams and stadiums, MLB SlugFest 20-03 delivers over-the-top, adrenaline-style gameplay action. It will change the way you think about America's pastime with the most exciting, shot-of-adrenaline baseball videogame you've ever played! Take control of all of your favorite Major League Baseball teams and players armed with all of their real stats, attributes, abilities and attitude. Midway Sports takes this all-star lineup over-the-top.

Gameplay
The gameplay in MLB 2003 will vary depending on how the player plays the game. The player will be able to choose their favorite baseball team and use that team along with the official members of that team back during that time. Players will be able to throw a wide assort of pitches depending on who the pitcher is, will the player be able to perform unique throws like a "screwball" or a "slider". As well pitching, the player can throw the ball towards a base where another runner is located at to prevent them from scoring a run. The pitcher can also beam the ball at the batter if the player thinks the opposing team will score a home-run on them. By beaming a player, the stats will decrease depending on where the player was hit. But sometimes, the player that is about to get beamed, will get all fired up and beat the heck out of the pitcher for beaming him, and with that, the batter's stats are increased dramatically. The pitcher can also get fired up and will be able to throw pitches a lot faster and any fielder that has been fired up, will also be able to throw faster and sprint quicker. Players can also activate cheat codes at the loading screen just before the game match loads up. Players can also hit each other with kicks and punches to make the player drop the ball and have a chance to gain an extra base.

Graphics
The graphics in MLB Slugfest 2003 were fairly decent to the player's eyes. The faces on the pro baseball stars lacks the realistic aspects of the game. For a game back then, the realistic aspects were difficult to acquire back then so its not a surprise of the terrible graphics and textures on the faces. The team's uniforms weren't the best in quality in terms of color and texture. The lettering of the team's name was of decent style to be read and the overall uniforms were really vague with little minor details included on the team's uniforms. The textures of the field were the only thing that I would consider better out of the entire game itself. The designs of the lines and angles were easy to be seen. The crowd however is also terrible. Due to the graphics of being low quality, the faces on the crowd were hardly distinguishable to see what differences and similarities can be seen.

Controls
The controls in this game aren't really anything to worry about being difficult to handle. During the gameplay, the controls to know tell the player what action to perform of their choosing will appear on screen. If a player decided to throw the ball at one of the bases with a runner on it, they would have to point the analog stick in the direction of the base along with the action button as well to perform it. If the player can read what the controls are that appear on the screen prior to initiating a pitch, then they can easily gain the pitching controls quickly. A player can also change the movement of the ball as it is being thrown by moving the left analog stick in any direction to possibly make their opponent miss the pitch. Overall, the controls appear on screen to aid the player in batting and pitching, but does forget to mention little tricks the game doesn't include.
