Gameplay

Ever wanted to play Final Fortress 2 on your iPhone or iPad? Now you can! The Respawnables offers all the fun and the excitement of Final Fortress on any Apple device! While the two games were made by different developers, it is obvious to see the influence Final Fortress has on this game. From its graphics, controls, and overall playability, these two games have much in common. The game starts out simple, you play as an average character and as you level up, you can purchase new weapons and outfits. Leveling up can be done either offline while fighting AI bots, or online against other human beings. The offline mode is basically a free-for-all deathmatch. You fight against 4 AI bots, and whoever has the most kills at the end of the game wins! At first, only one map is playable, but as your ranks increase you will find yourself playing on 8 different maps across a variety or terrains from the scorching desert, to the freezing arctic. The offline or "arcade" mode may seem enjoyable at first, however it falls flat compared to an amazing multiplayer. The Respawnables has one of the best online shooter multiplayers I have ever found on a mobile device. It is primarily a 4v4 team deathmatch. The gameplay online is smooth with very little lag. The customization is also top notch. With over 25 different weapons, this game provides a variety of fun that keeps the player coming back for more. The one negative I have to mention is the excessive amount of in-app purchases. Although the game is free, you have multiple options in the game to purchase special "customization" packs. At times, the amount of adds feel a little overwhelming and left a bad taste in my mouth. However, as a free game I shouldn't be complaining

Graphics

I have played around 14 hours of this game on my iPad 2nd generation and the game is beautiful. The game has a third-person "Final Fortress 2" kind of look. The maps are colorful, exciting and the layout is superb. The characters are detailed and each is unique in their own way. While firing your weapon of choice, the player will notice "hit-markers" appear on their enemy. This helps players who may be playing on a smaller device. While some may view the graphics "cartoony and childish", I find them pleasant and enjoyable.

Controls

The controls are simple, yet complex at the same time. You use the left side of the screen to move your player, and the right side to aim your weapon. While this seems like an easy concept, the execution is sub-par at best. While aiming, you must physically click a button in the bottom right corner of the screen, this causes frustration when you accidentally miss the button and find yourself spinning in circles. The sensitivity is also a problem in the game. No matter how much I fiddle with the settings, the sensitivity always seems way to high. This causes close quarter combat to be a pain. Once you get the hang of the controls, the game becomes much more fun and exciting

System Requirements

Requires iOS 4.3 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
