Synopsis

The game opens with Alex Mercer awaking in a morgue, the doctors having believed him dead. Struggling against a painful case of amnesia, Mercer escapes the morgue in search of his sister, Dana. Working with his sister and other allies, Alex seeks to uncover his powers' origins as well as stop a mysterious viral outbreak that has also appeared on the island.

Unfortunately, Mercer is hindered by the United States military as well as the merciless Blackwatch. These black ops soldiers will stop at nothing to contain the virus and capture Mercer, even if it means destroying everyone and everything in their path. With martial law declared and an iron blockade isolating Manhattan, Alex has no choice but to confront both the viral monsters and the military forces at every turn, all the while uncovering the terrible secrets concerning the nature of the virus and the nature of his powers.

Gameplay

As stated in the Synopsis, you play the role of a male by the name of 'Alex Mercer' who's age is undetermined. After waking up in the morgue , you're determined to get as far away as possible. Shortly after, you are introduced to your basic actions and controls. Desperate to figure out why you are this way, and who did this to you, you will stop at nothing.

You will also be able to learn new attacks and what not. In the game you are also able to run on walls and glide through the air. You also have massive strength and agility

Throughout the game, you will acquire special abilities that will increase your damage and make the gameplay a bit more entertaining.

Some of your special abilities include the following:

Shape-shifting (Consume pedestrians and take on their form and receive their memories)

You can shape-shift to gain the following weapons(not all included):

Claws
Hammers
Blades
Whips

and a ton more of fun things

Enemies
During the story mode, you will encounter many different enemies. From poison fungi growing on buildings, to mutants trying to kill you. The most common enemy you will encounter is the U.S Army. They are found on almost every street, since they are searching for you since your escape.

Standard U.S Army Soldier

To avoid the Army/Police, simply don't show of any sign that you're a mutant shape-shifting prototype. You can simply walk by in your Alex Mercer form, or you can consume a
civilian and wonder by. Of course you'll have to consume away from any enemy though. If are you in need of a quick shape-shift, you are able to 'Stealth' consume anyone at anytime, without being noticed.

Standard Mutant

On the other hand, if you happen to run into any mutants, you'll have to full on bring out your shape-shifting abilities and handle it the hard way. The more advanced Shape-shifting
skills you have unlocked, the easier it will be to defeat your mutant enemies.

You'll also come across a couple enemies that are more challenging then others, like the "boss" of some games.

Overall, you'll get done what you need to get done. As long as you have the right skills/powers, defeating any enemy will be no problem.

Unlocks

While playing through the story, you will gain experience also known as "EP" , With the experience points you earn, you are able to unlock quite a bit of new features.

Here are the categories of unlocks available. Each category contains a couple of abilities/powers you can unlock using experience points.

Offensive Powers

Defensive Powers

Sensory Powers

Vehicular Skills

Disguise Abilities

Special Attacks

Multiplayer

[Prototype] has no multiplayer whatsoever. There is also no system link split screen. This was quite a bummer to find out when i first bought the game, but overall the story mode makes up for no multiplayer.

Graphics

To be honest, the graphics aren't the best, but on the other hand, they aren't entirely bad. I'm satisfied with the graphics, but improvements to be made, have to include more detail in the games animation.

The games surroundings seem to be a bit dull, I might be used to the newer games graphics, seeing as [Prototype] was released a couple years ago.

Don't let the graphics get you down though, the game is 100% worth every penny spent on it.

Overall Opinion

I have to give props to the developers for creating such an amazing game. When i first got the game i would basically just roam the cities not knowing what to do, then i figured out that there are missions and more things to the game. After collecting a lot of experience points and spending quite a while on the game, i came to the conclusion that i really do enjoy this game. I suggest it to anyone that is willing to give up multiplayer for a truly amazing story mode.

I've beaten the game a couple times this year and i haven't actually gotten the time to site down and play it. I will be releasing gameplay sometime within the next couple of months. For now, i'll link you guys to some other gameplay videos.

My Rating

8.5/10

I felt like this game was a huge smack in the face.

When you start, yer this badass mutant with all these powers, then they just take it away from you lol. This game felt a little to GTA for me taste honestly. I can see how it would be good for GTA fans, just not my cup of tea.
