Synopsis (Wikipedia)

WWE Day of Reckoning 2 is a video game released on the Nintendo GameCube console by THQ. The sequel to WWE Day of Reckoning, it became a "Player's Choice" game on July 5, 2006. The soundtrack features music by death metal group A Dark Halo, who performed two songs in the game including its theme song "Burn It All."
Day of Reckoning 2 features improved graphics over its predecessor, a new strategy-based submission system, and a storyline that allows the player to choose paths. This game was the last wrestling game to ever be released for the GameCube and the first WWE game to feature The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin as legends.

Story Mode

So the Day of Reckoning 2 story line takes place right after the first one. You're at the top of the WWE, and you're going to be placed into a wide variety of rivalries. There are some options that you get to choose throughout the story line which determines what you are going to do next. No matter which option you choose, you end up doing the same thing at one point or another.

You play a lot of matches in the story line, and go for WWE Championship and/or the World Heavyweight Championship. A huge part of the story line is to find out who took the World Heavyweight title, since someone on the roster stole it and you're job is to find out who stole it.

The story line is fun, and challenging sometimes. I think that Day of Reckoning one should have had ended it's story line there, so when Day of Reckoning 2's started, it could of had a clean, fresh start but that wasn't the case since you started off where you left off in the first one. That wasn't so good because if you bought the second one first and played that story line, you wouldn't know what's going on because of the start. Then again, that's the case with a lot of sequels, although most of them have some cliffhangers towards the end.

Overall, the story mode is fun, and worth playing.. there are just some parts of it that are really boring and frustrating.

Exhibition

The Exhibition mode is pretty much the funnest thing to play, you have over 40 superstars to choose from, and as well as your created superstar and you could earn cash from playing, whereas you could use that money to purchase items from the Shop Zone.

There are many available game modes to choose from, as well as Arena's that were present at that time.

When you're in a match, there are new things available like a Stamina system, where the more your player moves, the more tired he/she gets.. which tries to add realism to the game. Players are now able to do a lot of things more freely.. for example, players could now get into the '619' Position where they are hanging on the second rope and you could do the '619'.. You could climb up on top of the Cell in a hell in a cell match and throw them off just like in any other game that was that match.

Shop Zone

Just like in the first game to this series, there something called a shop zone where you could purchase items from the shop, and use that so your character has it unlocked. There are many things to choose from like weapons, finishers, and arenas as well as many new items that weren't in the first game. You get your money by completing matches, obviously the more you play and win, the money more you will get whereas the more things you could buy in this.

There really wasn't any problems with this little feature in the game, it was great, and offered a fair amount of items that you could choose from.

Graphics

Yuke's nailed it with the graphics since they were actually good. They were better than the first game, and far better than any of the others. The facial expressions were good, the cut scenes were good (as far as the graphics went), and the in-game graphics were good. There was good lighting, shadowing, I'll show a few pictures.. keep in mind, this was 2005 and the power of the Gamecube was limited..

Rating

8/10

The game was great, it fixed up some of the problems and bugs that were introduced in the first game, and made it better and had several new features.
